Survey Crew Chiefs A/B

GovFirst is seeking to hire multiple Survey Crew Chiefs A/B to support surveying and mapping projects across various locations in Virginia including Bristol, Fredericksburg, Hampton Roads, Norfolk, Newport News, Suffolk, Surry, Salem, Lynchburg, Staunton, Culpeper & Richmond, VA within the Transportation Operations Division. These professionals will be responsible for providing field leadership, ensuring the successful completion of survey tasks, and maintaining quality assurance throughout surveying operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage survey field crews, providing direction and supervision to ensure accurate and timely completion of survey projects.
  

• Participate in pre-survey planning meetings with project managers, engineers, and contractor representatives to coordinate survey activities.
  

• Assign and monitor tasks for field survey members, provide guidance, and evaluate crew performance.
  

• Train and instruct survey crew members on survey and mapping methods, equipment usage, and field safety procedures.
  

• Ensure that necessary resources, equipment, and personnel are available to complete survey tasks efficiently.
  

• Perform quality assurance and control of field data, ensuring accuracy and adherence to project requirements.
  

• Conduct complex surveying calculations using calculators, computers, and coordinate geometry software such as AutoCAD and MicroStation.
  

Requirements

• Proven experience in surveying and field crew management, with progressive responsibility in survey operations.
  

• Knowledge of surveying techniques, mapping methods, equipment, and safety procedures.
  

• Experience in conducting pre-survey planning and coordinating with various stakeholders.
  

• Ability to perform advanced surveying calculations using AutoCAD, MicroStation, and coordinate geometry software.
  

• Strong leadership and communication skills to guide survey teams and ensure compliance with project standards.
