ASN Constructors is a joint venture of three international contractors (Acciona, Shikun & Binui and North American Construction Group) who will work with the Metro Flood Diversion Authority and other area stakeholders to build a historic project that will protect the citizens of the Fargo-Moorhead area from flood waters from the Red River. The Survey Party Chief will assist in planning and executing proposed field survey projects, manage the individual field survey team members, prepare, process, and coordinate the required field design survey work and construction staking survey work and other surveys and daily survey logs. Survey Party Chief assists in providing direction to assigned field survey staff; plans, assigns, directs, and reviews the daily activities of a field survey crew in conducting preliminary, location, construction, property, precise, topographic, or other engineering surveys. 

Responsibilities:

• Assists in directing Survey Crews to perform land surveying services including surveys for construction, topographic, right-of-way, and control survey projects
• Responsible for field data collection, field calculations, using proper survey procedures and reporting survey findings
• Ensure schedules and productivity objectives set by Survey Manager are achieved
• Performs accurate measurements and calculations in recording the field data using instruments and measuring devices
• Drives company or personal vehicle to reach jobsites
• Ensures surveys are in compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations
• Identifies hazardous situations and applies safety procedures and company standards
• Manage and perform field survey work
• Effective communicating with Survey Manager as to progress updates, scope changes, HSSE reporting and other project impacts
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Advanced knowledge of field survey methods and calculations
• Strong understanding of field instrumentation, GPS. Robotic total stations a plus
• Strong cooperative skills in working efficiently with a team.

Experience/Qualifications:

• 3+ years of survey experience including party chief experience
• Associates degree or technical school diploma/certificate in Engineering or related field and a minimum of 2 years related experience or, in lieu of a degree, must have at least 3 years of related experience in civil construction surveying.
• Experience in earthworks or civil construction
• Valid Driver’s License required

Physical Demands and Work Environment – ALL CRAFT AND FIELD POSITIONS

Work Environment:

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
• Exposure to moving mechanical parts.
• Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration.
• Noise levels in the work environment is usually loud.
• Ability to wear and work in personnel protective equipment including but not limited to hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, ankle-supporting safety-toed work boots and a safety vest.

Physical Demands:

• Extensive moving or positioning heavy weighted materials (up to 50 lbs.).
• Must be able to traverse irregular and steep terrain.
• Must be able to respond quickly to sounds.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, and ascend/descend to reach materials or enter heavy equipment.
• The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
