Position: Survey Party Chief

Reports to: Survey Manager

Job Description:

The Survey Party Chief oversees construction staking, topographic surveys, and as-built documentation across diverse construction projects. This role ensures precise, high-quality survey data while coordinating closely with project managers and engineers. The Party Chief upholds strict safety protocols and ethical standards, delivering accurate results that support successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

• Plans and organizes the field survey activities for construction projects, such as roads, bridges, buildings, pipelines, and utilities.


• Operate and maintain various survey equipment, such as total stations, GPS, levels, lasers, and data collectors.


• Perform calculations, measurements, and adjustments of survey data, using software and manuals.


• Utilize survey maps, drawings, reports and legal descriptions, using CAD and GIS software.


• Communicate and coordinate with project managers, engineers, contractors, and clients, regarding the survey requirements, specifications, and results.


• Train and mentor survey helpers and evaluate their performance and skills.


• Ensure compliance with the survey standards, codes and regulations, and adherence to the safety and ethical practices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent with a minimum of 5 years of experience in construction surveying.


• Proficient in using survey equipment, software, and methods.


• Knowledge of the survey principles, practices, and procedures.


• Strong work ethic and commitment to delivering high-quality surveying services


• Able to read and interpret construction plans, maps and documents.


• Skilled in performing mathematical and geometric calculations.


• Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills


• Detail-oriented, organized, and reliable

Requirements:

• Constantly working in outdoor weather conditions


• Ability to travel onto job sites


• Civil Engineering or construction industry experience is highly preferred.


• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
