Eaton\u2019s Commercial Distribution Products \u0026 Assemblies Division is currently seeking a Sustaining Engineer to join our team! This position is based at our Arden, NC facility. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations. \n\n## What you\u2019ll do:\n\nIn this role, you are responsible for specialized product engineering capabilities as a key member of the Automatic Transfer Switch Product Line Engineering team. Automatic Transfer Switch products are a crucial part of mission critical power systems such as data centers and hospitals, where outages have severe consequences. This role will have responsibility for assessing, developing, and maintaining common engineering specialization capability to support best in class product improvement design, cost out through design (VAVE), material substitutions, design quality improvements and codes and standards changes. This position implements improvements across diverse Automatic Transfer Switch products to increase manufacturing efficiency, including electrical/mechanical designs, providing support/direction to other Engineers/Designers, and collaboration with supply chain, manufacturing and quality. This role will also lead engineering standards development for repeat Custom Order Engineering (COE) Automatic Transfer Switch designs to reduce variability in manufacturing builds and support VAVE/Cost out activities and design related process improvements.\n\nJob Responsibilities:\n\n * Leads diverse sustaining engineering and VAVE projects across functions in support of the Automatic Transfer Switch Product Line\n * Develops complex electrical and mechanical drawings and bills-of-material based upon established product designs, providing detail to accurately convey the equipment application and integrate into the manufacturing process.\n * Supports day to day manufacturing operations from an ATS engineering PL perspective, including resolving part, component or BOM issues.\n * Designs steel, copper, and various other material components for improved manufacturability utilizing 3D modeling and other advanced engineering methods and tools.\n * Designs wiring and controls including manufacturing labeling and wire harnesses applications as needed.\n * Leads and executes small/large projects to completion within project timelines with little or no supervision. Works to coordinate these projects with manufacturing engineering and assembly teams.\n * Develops, maintains and applies best in class engineering techniques to solve problems and make design recommendations.\n * Leads, identifies, and executes activities required to maintain a successful sustaining engineering function for the Automatic Transfer Switch Product Line.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications:\n\nRequired (Basic) Qualifications: \n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution \n\u2022 Minimum three (3) years of engineering work experience required \n\u2022 Eaton will not consider applicants for employment immigration sponsorship or support for this position.
