Job Description - SVP of Loan Servicing & Investor Reporting

The SVP of Loan Servicing & Investor Reporting is responsible for overseeing all investor reporting functions as they relate to mortgage loan servicing activities. This role ensures that all borrower-level transactions processed through servicing such as, but not limited to payments, escrow activity, advances, modifications, foreclosure, loss mitigation, bankruptcy, deed in lieu, REO and payoffs are accurately reconciled and reported.

This position serves as the critical link between Servicing Operations, Accounting, Capital Markets, GSE’s and external investors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the day-to-day operations of the Servicing team.
  • Identify and resolve internal issues that will improve productivity, minimize loss, and reduce risk within the department to maintain strong relations with external investors and vendors. 
  • Ensure all servicing transactions are accurately captured in internal & investor reports.
  • Oversee reconciliation of loan-level data between the servicing system and investor reporting platforms.
  • Manage and reconcile all mortgage investor reporting, default reporting, and credit risk, verifying all data is accurate and completed within defined SLA’s.
  • Analyze and reconcile all variations within internal and investor reporting applications.
  • Ensure all reporting is completed in accordance with government guidelines as well as investor guidelines.
  • Work with internal leadership to coordinate service transfers by preparing transfer requests and submitting files to confirm transfers are successful.
  • Ensure all payments to vendors and investors are collected/paid within deadlines. 
  • Provide servicing data requested for audits, exams, and other reviews. 
  • Assist investors and vendors with any inquiries. 
  • Ensure general ledger transactions are maintained and updated. 
  • Ensure subservicer is operating in alignment to Agency, Investor, Federal and State regulations. 
  • Manage service release schedules with subservicer. 
  • Monitor loan status changes (modifications, transfers, payoffs, bankruptcies, foreclosures) and ensure accurate reporting. Manage preparation and submission of monthly investor reports.
  • Oversee remittance of principal, interest, taxes, insurance, and corporate advances.
  • Ensure timely custodial account reconciliation and cash movement.
  • Investigate and resolve reporting discrepancies and investor exceptions.
  • Ensure adherence to agency servicing guidelines and investor requirements.
  • Maintain strong internal controls over reporting accuracy and data integrity.
  • Stay current on regulatory and agency updates impacting servicing and reporting.
  • Partner with Accounting to reconcile custodial, clearing, and advance accounts.
  • Review trial balances and general ledger activity tied to servicing.
  • Validate cash application and remittance calculations.
  • Identify and correct variances prior to investor submission deadlines.
  • Develop and maintain reporting procedures and documentation. 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of mortgage servicing experience. 
  • 3+ years of Investor Reporting experience. 
  • 3+ years of Managerial experience. 
  • Mortgage servicing systems knowledge.
  • Strong reconciliation and Excel skills.
  • Understanding of custodial accounting and remittance cycles.
