About us!


We work closely with our customers to create unique flavor elements to ice cream bases and yogurt preps. Many of our ingredients end up in easily recognizable brands on the store shelf as we produce for both international corporations as well as smaller, local brands.  Our Research and Development is done in-house so we get to witness the whole process from ideation to creation.  We support regional trade organizations, source locally when appropriate and help to bring healthy food to people’s tables.


 


Production Lead - Formulated


 


Department:  Formulated


Status: Non-exempt


Employee Classification: Regular Full-time


Reports To:  Plant Manager


Supervisory Responsibilities:  Yes


Shift: 10:00am to 8:00pm, Monday through Friday


 


Job Summary:  Provides general oversight of all production procedures in the Formulated Department, ensuring safety and quality, while providing coaching and support to employees. Maintains strict good manufacturing practices. Reviews ingredients list to ensure accuracy, prepares batches ingredients for production and operates food processing equipment, including but not limited to mixers, sieves and steam kettles adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety.


 


Essential Functions:



  1. Operates food processing equipment, including but not limited to mixers, sieves and steam kettles.

  2. Packages finished product

  3. Tests and records in process verification checks of finished products as necessary.

  4. Completes daily documentation of batches with comprehensive understanding of the data and its impact to the operation

  5. Cleans and maintains work area.

  6. Adhere to proper current Good Manufacturing Practices

  7. Operates within all standard operating procedures.

  8. Operates forklifts and other heavy equipment.

  9. Use of MRP/ERP for finding inventory related information

  10. Prints documentation and prepares batched ingredients for production


 


 


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



  1. Is competent in all level 2 Production Operator responsibilities

  2. One to three months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in a Leadership role.

  3. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

  4. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals

  5. Ability to complete and follow through with written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations

  6. Ability to operate forklift and/or certified to operate forklift is preferred

  7. Ability to verify batches completed by others for accuracy and provide feedback to reduce repeat errors

  8. Possesses Leadership qualities

  9. Ability to cover at least some responsibilities of a Supervisor, such as conducting start up meetings and sending shift reports.

  10. Proactively seeks guidance from Supervisors/Managers

  11. Professionally corrects behaviors of other team members to improve safety, GMPS and performance

  12. Shows initiative to improve the Production Team

  13. Capable of making critical decisions with assistance from Supervisors/Managers


 


 


Working Conditions/Physical Factors:



  1. Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions.

  2. Worker may be exposed to a loud working environment.

  3. Worker may be exposed to hazards in the work place such as proximity to equipment conducting extreme heat, moving parts, and electrical current

  4. Must be able to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.)

  5. Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time

  6. Occasionally required to use hands and fingers 

  7. Frequently required to talk or hear

  8. Frequently required to taste and smell

  9. Frequently required to lift/push/pull/carry weight up to 50 pounds

  10. Specific vision abilities required for this job include: close vision, distance vision, and color vision.

  11. Exposure to moving mechanical parts

  12. Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
