Powder Coating Systems, an independent powder coating company, is looking for a driven individual with a mechanical aptitude to become one of our Sandblasters on Swing shift. 

This is an hourly, full-time position. The shift for this position runs from Monday through Friday 1PM to 9:30PM. The starting wage for this position is $18 to $20 per hour depending on experience. 

After the initial ninety day probationary period, employees earn six paid holidays a year as well as access to their Paid Time Off they accrue from the first day of work. They also become eligible for a Sales Based Production Bonus that accrues monthly and is paid quarterly.

This position is a physical position, requiring the employee to wear PPE as well as a hood respirator while operating the blast booth to remove the outer shell off of metal parts to prepare them for the powder coating process.  This will involve locating the job in our yard, transporting it using a forklift to the booth, moving the parts into the booth, accounting for all the parts on the order, masking all threaded parts, then using the machine to spray media onto the parts to clean them. It can be loud and a bit messy. Operators are also responsible for performing operator level maintenance on the machine including filling the pot with grit and fixing the hoses. This position also requires documenting the jobs completed and counts. 

The best candidates will have a mechanical aptitude. The best ones we had were independent and driven to get the job done. 

All employees in this position are required to wear hearing protection and a respirator we provide. They also need to wear steel toe/composite toe boots and long sleeves regardless of the weather as well. All employees in this position will also be required to complete a DOSH Medical Evaluation Questionnaire during their orientation process to be cleared to use the respirator. 

Requirements

-Must be able to lift 50 lbs. repetitively.

-Must have legal documentation to complete an I-9. (Copies are not accepted). 

-Must have a driver's license. (All employees are certified through us to operate our forklifts. This is a requirement to operate them.) 

-Must have reliable transportation to commute to work in Tacoma daily. (Due to the earlier start time, Pierce Transit isn't an effective option to get to work by start time.)

-Must have a year's experience in a shop/warehouse environment.  

-Must be able to read, speak and understand English. 

The following are not mandatory, but would be helpful: 

-Experience operating a sandblast machine. 

-Mechanical aptitude. 

-Experience operating Powered Industrial Trucks (PIT)

-Experience in a Paint/Powder shop.
