Job Description - SY 25-2026 Leader of School Culture

Nuasin Next Generation Charter School is in search of motivated, mission-aligned individuals that want to join us in providing the scholars and families of the Highbridge section of the Bronx with the truly excellent school they need and deserve.  We are looking for educators that believe in the talent and intellectual capabilities of our scholars.  We are looking for educators that are excited to engage and ignite our scholars in the deep intellectual engagement of great ideas, problem-solving activities, and a complex understanding of our academic content. Nuasin is a school and community that cares about your why and expects you to bring passion, commitment, and respect to our scholars on a daily basis.  Below is a description of the teaching positions that are currently available.  Please reply to this email or contact us if Nuasin is the right place for you.

The anticipated salary range is $70,000.00 to $110,000.00 for a candidate who will work in New York City. The salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to years of experience to the job, education, and certifications.

Scholar Support and Interventions

  • Assists in the development, implementation, and evaluation of intervention programs that effectively address the needs of at-risk scholars. 
  • Keep detailed and up-to-date scholar behavior records and collaborate with parents, teachers, and other members of the staff to implement behavior plans.
  • Establish strong parent-school relationships and meet with parents regarding scholar behavior and interventions provided.
  • Plan, develop and execute parent, teacher, and scholar workshops in collaboration with social workers/counselors.
  • Plan, support and attend special school events (Talent Show, Prom, Graduation, etc.).
  • Create, maintain, and update accurate scholar records, documenting all aspects of the incidents and interventions.
  • Participate in scholar academic referral processes, as needed.
  • Provide reports of incidents and interventions on a weekly basis as specified by the Director of School Culture.
  • In partnership with school administrators, ensure scholar attendance is above 95% for all scholars. 
  • Observe and give feedback to teachers regarding behavior management and restorative practices that result in increased performance. 

Professional Development and Academic Supports 

  • Observe and provides feedback to leaders on building a restorative and accountable classroom culture.
  • Lead professional development on restorative practices and classroom procedures as various touch points throughout the school year. 

School Culture

  • Plan, implement and monitor professional development for the school that results in strong advisories, effective utilization of restorative practices and a positive classroom/school culture.
  • Model how to build strong, mutually respectful relationships with scholars and families and support teachers to do the same.
  • Drive fidelity of school culture systems across the school, including restorative practices, behavior management, common practices, attendance, and more.
  • Analyze school wide culture data and make adjustments to ensure fidelity to common picture
  • Observe classroom and common spaces and give feedback on school wide systems and classroom culture.
  • Coordinate and manage creative, inspiring professional development sessions in line with school goals and priorities.
  • Lead staff training at start and end of school year and on professional development days to develop staff on building strong classroom cultures, procedures and management. 
  • Model the Nuasin Next Generation professional and core values at all times; be a visible and highly engaged member in the school community.
  • Support a school culture of high behavioral expectations that enables a consistent focus on academic results.
  • Coaches and models research based instructional strategies.
  • Mentors new teachers on building strong classroom cultures, procedures and management. 
  • Develops and administers restorative practices in accordance with district policies, state laws and Nuasin’s code of conduct.
  • Responds to and resolves parent, scholar, and staff concerns and complaints.
  • Supervises scholars all times, and monitors scholars during lunch, recess, passing periods, and other activities; instructs scholars in appropriate behavior; leads restorative practices in accordance with established guidelines. 
  • Monitors and organizes attendance functions; prepares letters, calls parents, and attends meetings as needed, regarding absent or tardy scholars; provides leadership for attendance improvement efforts.
  • Provides direction to a variety of faculty, staff, and scholar programs and services; participates in formal and informal classroom visitations and observations; provides recommendations and suggestions for improvement as appropriate. 
  • Establish a positive, structured, and fun school culture.
  • Motivate and guide scholars to become their best selves.
  • Plan, design and implement a school-wide discipline plan.
  • Research and develop character education plan to inform Advisory lessons (in HS).
  • Research and develop character education and other initiatives as needed (in K-8). 
  • Serves as an ambassador for restorative practices and restorative culture.
