Position: Early Childhood Education (ECE) Intervention Specialist


Reports to: ECE Assistant Principal 



Bridges seeks to hire an Early Childhood Intervention Specialist to support our school program providing tier 2 and 3 instruction in Literacy and Math. This is a 10 month position.

Position Summary:


The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist is an instructional support specialist who works closely with school leaders, teachers and parents supporting kindergarteners’ and preschoolers' development and well-being, with a focus on social emotional development and academic achievement. The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist also offers direct support to children in the classroom as needed, and works with individuals or a small group of students implementing curricula and modifications. Modeling for and coaching teachers is a key aspect of this role. The Early Childhood Intervention Specialist will spend at least 85% of the workday in the classroom supporting children and/or teachers, while gathering data and reviewing student performance. 



Essential Duties & Responsibilities



  • Partner with families and teachers to support children's development and well-being, with a focus on social-emotional and academic development.

  • Conduct child observations and functional assessments. Based on those observations, develop support plans and accommodations in close partnership with teachers and families. This may include creating visual supports and other inclusion support materials for use in or out of the classroom, as well as working with teachers using various tools to plan classroom-based accommodations.

  • Develop and implement professional development training to staff and families related to assessment and intervention strategies to improve learning for students with delays or in need of modification and/or accommodations.

  • Conduct regular classroom check-ins for early identification and monitor development, this includes:

  • Reviewing developmental screening results, refer as needed

  • Identifying developmental red flags, refer as needed.

  • Collaborating closely with the ECE Assistant Principal and keeping her updated regarding caseload, and child and family well-being.

  • Routinely monitor children to determine the accuracy of fit and efficacy of supports provided.

  • Other duties as assigned.


Professional Responsibilities



  • Adhering to the 8:00 a.m.- 4:00 p.m. in person work day, Monday through Friday

  • Be on time for classes, duties, team meetings and professional development activities.

  • Participate in weekly Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings with classroom teachers.

  • Participate in Early Childhood division data meetings 

  • Provide in classroom and pull out intervention for students

  • Participate in a Summer Professional Development. 

  • Seek out additional opportunities for professional development that will lead to achieving personal and school-wide professional development goals.

  • Respond to all emails within 24 hours or the next business day.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, or a related field. 

  • A Masters degree in a related education field is preferred.

  • Experience with play-based curricula preferred.

  • CPR/First Aid (current or must be completed within 60 days of hiring).


Salary & Benefits


Salary range: $57,500-$88,500/Per Year

Salary is based on educational level, certification(s), and years of experience.  The successful candidate will be contracted yearly.  Employment will be renewed according to evaluations and staff interest. Child care and health savings plans, pre-tax deduction for Metro, bike racks and regular staff engagement and wellness activities. Staff lounge and lactation room for nursing mothers. Health benefits (medical & dental), disability insurance, and a retirement plan: 401-(k) with a 4% match or the continuation of the DCPS retirement plan.


To ensure safety for all students, all staff members may be fingerprinted. Background checks will be conducted on all school staff prior to their service as employees.
