Job Description - System Administrator

The primary purpose of this position is to assist TBACU to live out its mission, “To serve our community and build trusted relationships.” A key component of this service is to identify members’ needs and provide appropriate TBACU product solutions which ultimately helps grow the credit union.

The System Administrator is responsible for overseeing the maintenance and management of the credit unions networks, servers, and systems in addition to ensuring uninterrupted operations and protection of the infrastructure. Further responsibilities include conducting regular system maintenance, enhancing security, managing user accounts, promptly addressing technical issues to ensure continued efficiency, formulating data backup and recovery plans, configuring network devices, and handling hardware and software installations and updates. Position also facilitates designing, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting LAN, WAN, VoIP components and more. Managing operating systems and virtual server environments. Expected to analyze and resolve system-related issues reported by users or identified by monitoring tools, support team members, meet established deadlines, perform as an IT project lead, and keep leadership informed of system-related matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensure IT systems are reliable, accessible, and functional. Address issues affecting system performance and service access and make updates to adapt to changing needs.
Oversee installation, configuration, and maintenance of networks, servers, and systems.
Monitor system performance to ensure high availability and security.
Manage network, servers, technology tools, and software applications.
Responsible for maintaining, testing, and performing the system-related roles of TBACU’s disaster recovery plan, business continuity plan and incident responds plan.
Conduct regular system audits and security monitoring.
Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect data and infrastructure.
Coordinate and manage IT projects to improve system functionality.
Provide training and support to team members on new technologies and systems.
Develop and implement IT policies and procedures. Training others and setting an example of compliance.
Manage user access control and system permissions.
Perform data backup and disaster recovery operations.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, and network issues.
Keep up with the latest IT trends and technologies.
Collaborate with other departments to align IT infrastructure with TBACU goals.
Manage IT inventory, including procurement and asset management.
Design and implement network security protocols and firewalls.
Participate in cybersecurity awareness programs and risk assessments.
Coordinate with vendors and external service providers.
Document IT processes, configurations, and changes.
Analyze and resolve complex technical problems.
Optimize system and network performance through tuning and upgrades.
Develop and maintain an internal knowledge base and technical documentation.
Facilitate the integration of new applications and technologies.
Manage network connection, virtual servers, and internet connectivity.
Manage the deployment of patches and updates.
Administer database systems and ensure data integrity.
Evaluate and recommend new hardware and software solutions.
Participate in IT strategic planning and budgeting.
Conduct incident response and mitigation efforts.
Support remote users and manage remote access solutions.
Assist with emergency response for network and system failures.
Meet established position expectations.
Maintain comprehensive knowledge of credit union products and services.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain and secure TBACU’s networks, servers, and systems.
Respond to employee concerns regarding IT systems.
Coordinate with TBACU leadership on technology enhancements.
Managing the access and permissions of different users on systems and applications.
Operate and maintain file servers and firewall systems.
Monitor internet connections for security risks.
Employ the latest security protocols to safeguard systems.
Monitor the local area network (LAN) and wide area network (WAN) for threats or errors.
Develop and maintain systems, applications, security, and network configurations.
Provide technical support and guidance to users.
Analyze hardware and software in a networked environment.
Prepare program documentation and operational procedures.
Manage the analysis of system requirements and system design.
Implement network management and monitoring software.
Conduct risk assessments and implement risk management strategies.
Develop training materials and conduct IT training sessions.
Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables.
Ensure the continuity of IT services through proper risk management.
Facilitate communication between IT and other departments.
Mentor entry level IT staff and crossed train within the IT department.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS

Knowledge of IT governance and operations.
Maintain high standards of system reliability and security.
Stay updated with the latest developments in IT and cybersecurity.

Ability to clear credit and criminal history check.
Compliance with the U.S Patriot Act and the Credit Union’s Bank Secrecy and OFAC Policies and Procedures.
Compliance with the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Credit Union’s Information Security program, maintaining the privacy and security of information, systems, and locations.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Able to sit or stand for 2-4 hours at a time.
Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and climb stairs.
WORK ENIVORMENT

Hybrid work environment available based on the needs of the department, after successfully meeting expectations for 6 months.
Must maintain a neat and orderly work area.
Protect the confidentiality of credit union employees and members by locking door or removing items from device and workstation when away.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, preferred or equivalent experience.
Professional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, MCSA, CCNA, CISSP and/or other industry certifications also preferred.
Five years of experience in a System/Network Administrator role preferred or equivalent experience.
Three references acknowledging knowledge, skills, and abilities regarding technology.
