ROLE DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for the design, development, and execution of end-to-end system testing and quality engineering, standards, and processes for medical imaging products, especially in the areas of embedded control software, image processing, complex user interfaces. Expected to work in close collaboration with a cross-disciplinary and cross-functional team of engineers, clinical application specialists, product management, manufacturing, and field service engineers to develop customer-centric medical imaging products. Expected to understand user requirements and product specifications, dive into software and system internals and debug problems, design and execute customer-centric testing plans and procedures. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned

    • Participate in all phases of system engineering: requirement, design, implementation, verification, release, manufacturing, and field service supports 
    • Design end-end quality engineering architectures, establish qualitative and quantitative quality standards, and install customer-centric software continuous improvement processes
    • Conduct critical review of system/component/software design and implementation
    • Develop and execute testing methodologies, plans, and procedures 
    • Hands-on debug issues in Window/Linux system drivers, embedded software, complex GUI, and/or image processing
    • Provide detailed substantiation of all test results
    • Strong technical documentation skills
    • Work individually and as part of team of engineers in support of the entire R&D and the overall business. 
    • Keep knowledge of all NeuroLogica products up-to-date
    • Update procedures per release
    • Required to wear dosimeter when in direct contact with radiation emitting devices

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

    • BA/BS in Computer Science or other related discipline 
    • 5+ years of industrial experience in medical device industries 
    • 3+ years of C/C++/C# programming experiences in embedded software, Windows/Linux device drivers, image processing, and/or user interfaces 
    • Strong familiarity with the software development lifecycle, software architecture, object-oriented design 
    • Strong familiarity in software QA methodologies
    • Strong understanding in user-centered design, and usability engineering and testing
    • Agile/SAFe experience preferred
    • Proficient in project management
    • Proficient in leading teams

COMPUTER & ANALYTICAL SKILLS

    • Strong problem-solving skills
    • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills to assemble facts from various areas, analyze data, and provide informed recommendations to management
    • Must be able to work with minimal supervision and take charge of projects
    • 3 + years’ QA experience in the following areas preferred (medical device SQA testing, testing of control software for complex electrical and mechanical equipment, testing complex user interfaces, computer interface and hands-on x-ray device system testing, testing to ensure regulatory compliance)
    • Testing automation testing preferred
    • Bug tracking tools and report generating 
    • ISO, FDA and CMDR knowledge preferred
    • Excellent with technology, be able to present using a laptop computer and be able demonstrate proficiency with MS Office package, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; as well as Outlook, Internet Explorer, and Google Chrome

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Occasionally lift and /or move up to 25 pounds
    • Frequently required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands; and talk or hear
    • Must be able to sit for long periods of time 
    • The noise level in the work environment is usually mild.
    • Specific vision abilities required by this job include Close vision, Distance vision, Peripheral vision, Depth perception and Ability to adjust focus
    • Interaction with x-ray devices; for this reason strict safety and tracking programs are in place, requiring the utilization of dose monitoring equipment either full time or as necessitated by situation
