Summary:

Goldschmitt and Associates is seeking a System Support Specialist for an onsite position at a government facility in Brownsville, Texas. This position provides troubleshooting assistance and problem resolution for computer systems in a variety of environments. Such assistance and resolution are provided for personal computers, servers and Local Area Networks (LANs).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:  

  • Provide support to distributed PC/networking environment including installation, testing, repair, and troubleshooting for PCs linked to networks, printers, and other computer peripherals
  • Perform technical, operational, and training support to users of personal computers either by telephone, or on-site for PC desktop hardware and software packages
  • Install and test personal computers, printers, and other peripherals, configure operating system, and other application software programs
  • Troubleshoot computer problems, perform hardware and software diagnostics, coordinate needed repairs, resolve computer system problems, including coordination between users and components of a local area network, and participate in the evaluation of system configuration and software
  • Provide help desk functions via email, phone, or in person

Necessary Skills and Knowledge:

  • Excellent oral and written communications skills required
  • Pleasant telephone manner

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Possess at least 3 years of experience providing direct end-user support for the applications being supported, including both telephone support and on-site assistance to users, including applications that may require certification by the software provider 
  • Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications
  • Possess hands-on familiarity with the network, telecommunications, and operating systems environment of the applications being supported
  • Proven track record of teamwork and collaboration in a fast-paced setting.
  • Possess expert-level knowledge of Government’s word processing, spreadsheet, and email systems
  • Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
  • Possess sole United States citizenship
  • Possess the ability to work onsite in Brownsville, Texas
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree
  • Prior teaching/training experience involving computer applications, preferably database, imaging, or other automated litigation support applications 
  • Prior experience in automated litigation support preferred
  • Experience with DOJ office automation environments extremely helpful
