Come be a part of our mission!\n\nWe are looking for you to join our team as a System/Principal Systems Engineer based out of Pt Mugu, CA.\n\nNorthrop Grumman Mission Systems seeks a Systems/Principal Systems Engineer to perform systems engineering for an Electromagnetic Warfare (EW) program at NAWC Point Mugu, CA. \n \nWork as part of a Navy led team developing EW systems mainly for the USMC. This Systems Engineering position would support senior Navy system engineers with the development of EW systems. System development would primarily focus on hardware design, prototyping and testing, with integration of software and possible scripting. \n\nDuties vary over time and may include:\n\n * Follow supplied USMC operational scenarios, requirements, and architecture framework (DoDAF) for system development.\n * Review new system requirements decomposed from the USMC supplied operational requirements, and/or develop project high-level requirements with Navy Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) engineers.\n * Assist the senior systems engineer with the generation and documentation of a new system\u2019s architecture and design (power, RF, and functional block diagrams).\n * Assist the senior systems engineers with adherence to appropriate military standards via system requirements, design, and test (MIL-STD-461 (EMI), MIL-STD-464 (EMC), MIL-STD-704 (power), MIL-STD-810 (environmental), MIL-STD-882 (safety), MIL-STD-1250 and MIL-STD-7179 (corrosion), MIL-STD-1289 and MIL-STD-8591 (aircraft stores), and MIL-STD-1472 (human factors)).\n * Review system thermal, safety, and reliability analyses.\n * Review the system design features for the protection of Critical Program Information (CPI).\n * Assist the senior system engineers with new system design features to enhance USMC supportability and maintainability of the system.\n * Research and make recommendations on COTS components for system development based on system performance requirements, size, weight, and power constraints, etc.\n * Support system prototyping at the bench level, in order to technically evaluate potential COTS components for possible use in new systems and to then evaluate subsequent system design performance.\n * Run and develop subsystem Acceptance Test Procedures (ATPs).\n * Assist the senior systems engineers with properly configuring new systems, and checking the configuration of existing systems (hardware, configuration file settings, network IP addresses, and set up of communication and encryption devices).\n * Learn how to generate electrical drawings in AutoCAD electrical.\n * Support the review of electro-mechanical system drawings.\n * Support integration testing of system incremental releases.\n * Assist with the troubleshooting system failures and performance issues.\n * Support the use of key processes, such as the configuration management for system changes after the system baseline is established. \n * Support test\u2019s evaluation of system performance in the lab. Operate the system and test equipment to evaluate functional and RF performance against requirements.\n * Collate technical data in response to program sponsor data calls.\n * Review system design documentation and operational checklists, procedures, user manuals, training materials, and other technical publications for technical accuracy and completeness.\n\n\n\n \nThis position can be filled at the Systems or Principal Systems level\n\nPosition is contingent on Clearance and Customer Approval\n\nPosition is on site at NAWC Point Mugu, CA. \n\n \n\n\nBasic Qualifications for Systems Engineer:\n\n \n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s Degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 2+ years of relevant experience or Master\u2019s Degree in a STEM related field with 1+ years of relevant experience \n\u2022 US citizen\n\n\u2022 Must have Secret clearance \n\u2022 Some experience with hardware and software integration (school and or work experience)\n\nBasic Qualifications for Principal Systems Engineer:\n\n \n\u2022 Bachelor\u2019s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) and 5+ years of relevant experience or Master\u2019s degree in a STEM related field with 3+ years of relevant experience \n\u2022 US citizen\n\n\u2022 Must have Secret clearance \n\u2022 Some experience with hardware and software integration (school and or work experience)\n\n \n \nPreferred Qualifications:\n\n\u2022 Knowledge of Electronic Warfare principles \n\n\u2022 Familiarity with Agile Development Methodology\n\n\u2022 Familiarity with Atlassian software development and collaboration tool set (Jira and Confluence)\n\n\u2022 Experience with Ethernet and TCP/IP\n\n\u2022 Experience with component selection for system development\n\n\u2022 Experience using mechanical and electrical drawings\n\n\u2022 Experience with RF receiver and RF jamming, software defined radios, and encryption systems\n\n\u2022 Experience working with RF test equipment\n\n\u2022 Experience with concurrent hardware and software development\n\n\u2022 Experience with military aircraft avionics and/or stores\n\n\u2022 Familiarity with referenced military standards\n\n\u2022 Familiarity with aircraft safety, supportability, maintainability, and reliability disciplines\n\n\u2022 Experience with AutoCAD electrical\n\n\u2022 Ability to work on your own initiative and learn independently once trained \n\u2022 Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work well in a close team environment\n\nPrimary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 - $137,600.00\n\nSecondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 - $171,000.00\n\nThe above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\u0027s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.\n\nDepending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
