Takeoff Technician

Position Overview:  

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Takeoff Technician to join our estimating team.This entry-level role is ideal for someone with a foundational understanding of electrical systems who is eager to grow within the construction or electrical contracting industry. You will assist in preparing accurate cost estimates for electrical projects by analyzing drawings, specifications, and other documentation. 

Key Responsibilities: 
 

• Assist in preparing quantity takeoffs and cost estimates for electrical systems (lighting, power, fire alarm, etc.). 

• Review project plans, specifications, and addenda to understand scope and requirements. 

• Support senior estimators in bid preparation and proposal development. 

• Input data into estimating software and maintain organized estimate files. 

• Communicate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain pricing and clarify scope. 

• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed. 

• Help identify valuable engineering opportunities and cost-saving alternatives. 

Qualifications: 

• Associate degree or coursework in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. 

• Basic understanding of electrical systems and construction drawings. 

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word;  

• Familiarity with Accubid estimating software is a plus (e.g., Bluebeam etc.). 

• Strong math and analytical skills. 

• Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities. 

Skills: 

• Internship or prior experience in electrical estimating or construction. 

• Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC). 

• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
