Tax Accountant

Are you an accounting professional with 2 years of experience looking for an opportunity to join a growing company? The Weitz Company is hiring a Tax Accountant to join our team in Des Moines, IA. This person will play a crucial role in ensuring that tax filings and related items are prepared accurately, on time, and meet compliance requirements.

What You’ll Do:

• Prepare monthly and quarterly filings, including sales/use tax, estimated income taxes and various government census reporting


• Ensure compliance with all state requirements, including income, sales/use and property tax filings


• Prepare and maintain the fixed asset module and book/tax differences


• Prepare and maintain the deferred tax schedule and related tax adjustments


• Correspond with various tax authorities regarding assessments, tax notices, audit requests, and other related issues


• Assist with preparation of tax returns

What We’re Looking For:

  • 2+ years of accounting experience in a fast-paced environment required
  
  
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field is required, an equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
