Tax Accountant

Tax Accountant - EA or CPA 

An established accounting firm is seeking an experienced Tax Accountant (EA or CPA) to join its remote team supporting clients in the Washington, DC area. This role is ideal for a tax professional who enjoys preparing complex tax returns, providing tax planning services, and building long-term client relationships.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns, including Forms 1040, 1041, 1065, 1120, and 1120S.
• Provide tax planning and advisory services for individuals and business clients.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations.
• Respond to IRS notices and assist with tax-related inquiries.
• Collaborate with clients and internal team members to deliver accurate and timely tax services.
• Stay current on tax laws and regulatory updates.

Qualifications

• Active Enrolled Agent (EA) or CPA license in good standing.
• Minimum 3 years of public accounting or professional tax preparation experience.
• Strong knowledge of individual and business taxation.
• Experience with tax preparation software such as Drake, UltraTax, Lacerte, or similar.
• Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent communication skills.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $80,000–$145,000 (based on experience).
