Job Summary:
One of the country’s top franchise organizations is looking for a Tax Manager to manage all aspects of our tax process which includes serving as the liaison for our outside sales tax preparation company, working with our outside income tax preparation company, auditing returns, reconciling withholdings, submitting timely and accurate payments, software implementation to improve the process, educating staff to minimize assessments and serve as the point person for all tax audits.

You’ll be responsible for preparing and auditing monthly tax documents and updating software. You will perform financial transactions and post them in the general ledger, with strong attention to detail. You will also carry out relevant administrative duties (e.g. responding to tax agencies via email and handling invoices). Ultimately, you will ensure the company’s tax payments are timely and accurate.
Responsibilities
- Maintain and update tax records and files
- Examine tax policies and review tax payments and returns
- Post transactions and categorize records in the general ledger (e.g. by assets, liabilities, and expenses)
- Reconcile tax payments
- Analyze transactions with internal and external stakeholders
- Accrue the correct amount of tax
- Prepare documents for audits
- Advise staff on tax issues via email or phone
- Apply new accounting policies and ensure compliance with rules and regulations
- Report to the Chief Financial Officer and work to improve financial processes
- Responsible for the following taxes; Sales and Use Tax, Income Tax (Federal, State and Local), indirectly responsible for Payroll Taxes
Requirements
- Similar experience as a tax manager or analyst or relevant role in accounting
- Excellent use of Microsoft Office Word and Excel; excellent with spreadsheets
- Knowledge of an accounting information systems is a plus
- Excellent math skills
- Attention to detail
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Confidentiality and integrity
- Degree in Accounting; Tax specialty is a plus
