We’re building something different — and you can be part of it. Our firm goes beyond compliance. We help business owners keep more of what they earn, reinvest wisely, and achieve long-term goals. That’s why we’re shifting from a traditional tax model to a proactive, planning-first approach.

We’ve invested in new technology and redesigned processes to deliver tax strategy year-round. The Tax Manager will lead this shift by implementing the planning model, training staff, overseeing tax operations, and ensuring the team focuses on the right work at the right time.

This role is built to grow into full leadership of the tax department, working closely with our Practice Manager to align strategy, manage workflows, and support team growth.

We treat our team like we treat our clients — with respect, transparency, and partnership. You’re not just a cog in the wheel. You’re a strategic leader helping shape the future of our firm.

My duties and responsibilities in this position are:
The Tax Manager leads the day-to-day operations of the tax department and ensures high-quality service to clients. This includes tax prep and review, team leadership, and helping implement our shift toward year-round, planning-first engagements.

Key duties include:

  • Deliver timely, strategic tax advice across all engagements

  • Prepare and review federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, businesses, and trusts

  • Lead prep on complex or high-value clients and support staff workload during peak season

  • Provide technical review, coaching, and mentorship to senior associates and support staff

  • Oversee daily tax operations and ensure timely workflow completion

  • Champion firmwide use of tax planning software; serve as internal trainer and expert

  • Lead tax planning and scenario modeling for business and HNW clients; identify and convert advisory opportunities

  • Partner with Practice Manager to improve workflows, project prioritization, and workload balancing

  • Ensure tax law compliance and internal quality control

  • Respond to IRS and state notices; conduct tax research as needed

  • Contribute to process documentation and firmwide efficiency initiatives

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required for this Position:
This role requires strong tax knowledge, leadership, and a forward-thinking mindset. Candidates should be comfortable working independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, client-first environment.

Must already have or demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in individual, corporate, partnership, and fiduciary tax law

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple deadlines

  • Strong written and verbal communication; explain complex concepts clearly

  • Familiarity with tax software and workflow/project management systems

  • Experience training and mentoring staff

  • Professional judgment and problem-solving skills

  • A client-first attitude with a commitment to responsive, strategic service

Expected to develop within 3 months:

  • Proficiency with our tax planning tools and ability to lead internal training

  • Familiarity with our workflow systems and project tracking

  • Understanding of key client relationships and service standards

  • Ability to spot opportunities to improve planning strategies, processes, and communication

Experience required for this position:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (or equivalent work experience)

  • 4+ years of tax and accounting experience with individuals and small/mid-sized businesses

  • CPA or EA license (preferred)

  • Experience with QuickBooks and tax software (UltraTax preferred)

  • Direct client-facing experience, including planning and return delivery

  • Experience training, mentoring, or supervising staff

Compensation: $85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
