They work across four practice areas: turnaround and restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, strategic litigation consulting, and tax services, and advising businesses through transactions, financial distress, litigation, and ongoing tax matters.
Position Summary
Our client is seeking an experienced Tax Manager to join our tax services practice. The ideal candidate brings 6+ years of hands-on tax experience and a strong foundation in preparing and reviewing business tax returns. You’ll work directly with managers, partners, and clients across a range of industries, handling federal, state, and local compliance, researching technical issues, and helping businesses meet their ongoing tax obligations and plan for what’s ahead. This is a role for someone who is detail-oriented, technically curious, and comfortable owning engagements from start to finish.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for business entities, including C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.
Prepare supporting workpapers, tax provisions, and book-to-tax reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation.
Research federal and state tax issues and document conclusions clearly for managers, partners, and clients.
Assist with quarterly estimated payments, filing extensions, and year-end tax planning for business clients.
Communicate with clients to gather information, answer questions, and explain filing requirements and tax positions.
Respond to notices and inquiries from the IRS and state and local taxing authorities.
Identify tax planning opportunities and potential exposures, escalating to senior staff as appropriate.
Monitor changes in federal and state tax law and assess their impact on business clients.
Collaborate with audit and advisory teams on engagements that span multiple practice areas.
Mentor and review the work of junior associates and interns as needed.
Job Qualifications
6+ years of tax experience, preferably in public accounting or a professional services firm.
Demonstrated experience preparing and reviewing business tax returns for C corporations, S corporations, partnerships, and LLCs.
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Working knowledge of federal and multistate income tax compliance for businesses.
Proficiency with tax preparation and research software, and solid Microsoft Excel skills.
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple engagements and deadlines through busy season.
Strong client-service orientation with clear written and verbal communication.
Preferred Qualifications
CPA license
Familiarity with QuickBooks and general ledger systems.
Degree in Taxation or Accounting.
