Location: Sherman Elementary School \n\nDepartment: Sherman ES \n\nArea:Central \n\nContract Months:HRLY \n\nSalary Range: $14.00 \u2013 $99.99 \n\nAcademic Year: 25-26 \n\n## JOB SUMMARY\n\nPosition Type: Associate Teacher, non-Dedicated (includes Non-Degreed, Degreed, Certified-Degreed, Certified- Retired) \nPrimary Purpose of Position: Acts in lieu of the regular classroom teacher and performs the duties as assigned by \nthe campus Principal, work-location supervisor, or designee. \nReports to: Campus Principal, work-location supervisor, or designee \nPosition location: District-wide (all campuses). \nWage/Hour Status: Part Time (FTE=0.5). \nFERPA: Student education records are private and held confidential at all times.Grading: Student grades can only be assigned by degreed Associate Teachers who hold active and valid teacher certification, and are serving in long term or dedicated associate teacher roles.\n\nPosition Type: Associate Teacher, Dedicated (Degreed) \nPrimary Purpose of Position: Acts in lieu of the regular classroom teacher and performs the duties as assigned by the campus Principal, work-location supervisor, or designee. \nReports to: Campus Principal, work-location supervisor, or designee \nPosition location: School-specific. \nWage/Hour Status: Part Time (FTE=0.5) or Full Time (FTE=1.0). \nFERPA: Student education records are private and held confidential at all times. \nGrading: Student grades can only be assigned by degreed Associate Teachers who hold active and valid teacher certification, and are serving in long term or dedicated associate teacher roles.\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES\n\n * Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated while continuing the same responsibilities as a regular classroom teacher for students, equipment, materials and facilities. Performs any special duties the classroom teacher may have.\n * Maintains the regular routine of the class and follows as closely as practical the lesson plan of study. Works to meet the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students while creating a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturing and interest of the students.\n * Encourages students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior conducive to good learning and maintain a level of discipline in the classroom.\n * Notifies the school office, before leaving campus, of any serious problems experienced during the day.\n * Leaves a summary of work covered in each class and other information pertinent to the teacher. Provides documented information on any student(s) who failed to follow classroom rules of conduct and/or failed to complete work assigned.\n * Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.\n * Reports on time for any assigned duty and works through the end of stated sub hours.\n * Completes 8 assignments per month during the academic school year. For Dedicated Achieve 180 Associate Teachers and Dedicated Associate Teachers, it is recommended that you commit to serving the campus for one school year. \n \n\n\n\n## MAJOR DUTIES \u0026 RESPONSIBILITIES CONTINUED\n\n * Performs other job-related duties as assigned.\n\n\n\n## EDUCATION\n\nNon-degreed Associate Teacher\n\n1\\. Complete at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (defined as completion of 48 semester hours) of college course work; or \n2\\. Possess an Associate\u2019s Degree; or \n3\\. Meet a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a local academic assessment\u2014Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) [formerly the TASP test] or the Texas Success Initiative Assessment (TSIA), verifying knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics.\n\nDegreed or Certified Associate Teacher: Bachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n## WORK EXPERIENCE\n\nRelated work experience preferred.\n\n## SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION\n\nMicrosoft Office \nOffice equipment (e.g., computer, copier, other specialized equipment unique to the teaching assignment) Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior \nStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills \nAbility to speak, write, read, and comprehend English \nAbility to communicate with students, staff and others in English \nAbility to be punctual and dependable \nAbility to maintain flexibility in the job assignment \nTexas Teaching Certification preferred \n \n\n## LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES\n\nNo supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice and training to staff.\n\n## WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\nWork and tasks are often straightforward, routine, structured and guided by established policies and procedures. Little, if any, independent judgment is required, outside of making basic choices in the selection and application of established methods. The job receives frequent, ongoing supervision.\n\n## BUDGET AUTHORITY\n\nNo budget development activity is required.\n\n## PROBLEM SOLVING\n\nDecisions are made on routine matters affecting few individuals and usually within the confines of the job\u0027s own department. Specific job activities and results are typically reviewed closely.\n\n## IMPACT OF DECISIONS\n\nThere are limited requirements for developing new ideas or changes in methods, procedures or services.\n\n## COMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n\nBasic communication \u2013 very little communication required such as receiving basic instructions. Interactions are mostly with customers, own supervisor and co-workers in own department.\n\n## CUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n\nFollows through with customer inquiries, requests and complaints. Forwards difficult and non-routine inquiries or requests to appropriate level for resolution.\n\n## WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS\n\nWork is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. \nAbility to travel to various work locations independently in the school district. \nAbility to see and read computer screens, lesson plans (written or printed) and other materials used by classroom teachers in normal daily job functions. \nAbility to detect student, parent, staff and administrator voices to respond to inquiries using voice prompts and sounds. \nAbility to maintain emotional control under stress.
