The Teacher participates in the planning and implementation of a safe, nurturing, developmentally appropriate program experience for the children in their care and assessing children’s progress in all areas of development.
- Maintain professional boundaries at all times. Model the CCAB mission statement.
- Contribute to children’s learning, growth, and overall development.
- Understand and maintain a positive mindset towards child’s learning and social-emotional development.
- Responsive to the needs of young children and invests in the well-being, health and safety of young children.
- Actively supervise children to ensure safety both indoors and out correcting hazards where possible and alerting supervisor to any other concerns.
- Document and communicate to the Director of Childcare Services observed situations and behaviors of concern.
- Conduct on-going observation and assessment of children’s progress using the technology provided. Maintain children’s portfolio for teacher/parent conferences.
- Follow health, safety, and housekeeping procedures while maintaining a comforting and inviting classroom environment.
- Provide child guidance and behavior management according to the center’s policies and procedures.
- Participate in age-appropriate curriculum planning, implementation, reflection, and evaluation.
- Participate in preparation of curriculum materials.
- Participate/attend monthly staff meetings/workshops/ and all required BPS trainings.
- Document daily attendance, food program participation. Prepare accident and injury reports in accordance with EEC and DESE regulations, report timely to the Director.
- Build respectful and professional relationships with parents, children, and colleagues.
- Assure programming meets the needs of the individual child and is responsive to the cultural and socio-economical background of children and families.
- Follow through with all directives and assigned tasks and projects in a professional and positive manner, respecting supervision and constructive criticism.
- Meet EEC requirements for professional development hours completed each year, enter them in the PQ Registry under the appropriate Core Competency.
- Plan for own professional development (IPDP), staying current in the field by attendance at workshops and conferences, reading relevant literature, and/or taking courses leading to a certificate or a degree.
