The Organization
Francophone Charter School of Oakland is a French immersion charter school that opened its doors in 2015. Our mission is to provide a dual-immersion curriculum to a diverse community of students and to develop bilingual and bi-literate global citizens who are open minded and who value intellectual curiosity, personal integrity and creativity. We are a small, TK-8, tight-knit international community that is looking to expand its staff. We are in search of a warm and competent Special Education teacher to join our wonderful public elementary school community. No knowledge of French is required for the position.
The Position
The Education Specialist designs and delivers specialized academic instruction services to students, monitors and evaluates student progress, collaborates with general education teachers and paraprofessionals to create inclusive classrooms, and manages an IEP caseload. The qualified candidate will have knowledge of sound, developmentally appropriate learning strategies, believe in the power of inclusive classrooms to support diverse learners, and be able to build rapport with students to engage them in self-actualized learning. The position requires the ability to collaborate with families, Special Education teams, and school staff to support student growth. The ideal candidate will have competency with IEP writing using the SEIS platform, or willingness to learn, and is prepared to guide paraprofessionals to support students’ progress on IEP goal progress.

Responsibilities:
The professional environment at Francophone is highly collaborative. Team members work together in learning communities engaged in problem-solving, data analysis, knowledge sharing, program development, and mutual support. The teaching staff, administrative staff and other school employees work as a team to further the mission and success of the school. Communication processes have been developed so that concerns can be addressed in a timely and respectful manner. Supporting a working space that feels creative and safe for all employees is a high priority at Francophone and this takes the effort of everyone.
