Middle School Humanities Teacher (ELA, History, Catechesis)

St. John the Baptist Catholic Academy, a PreK-8 Catholic classical school, is seeking a dynamic and faithful educator to teach 7th and 8th grade Humanities, which would be English Language Arts, History, and Catechesis (Religion).

About the Role:

The ideal candidate will be passionate about forming students in truth, beauty, and goodness through a classical curriculum rooted in the Catholic intellectual tradition. This teacher will help students grow in wisdom and virtue by leading them in thoughtful discussions, guiding them through great literature and historical inquiry, and grounding them in the truths of the Faith.

Qualifications:

• Practicing Roman Catholic
• Bachelor's degree in liberal arts, English, history, theology, or a related field
• Familiarity with classical education is preferred, but training will be provided
• Teaching experience preferred; licensure not required
• Strong presence in the classroom and a gift for cultivating wonder, attentiveness, and respectful behavior
• Collaborative spirit and a heart for working closely with families and fellow teachers
• Must pass all required background checks

This position is full-time, salaried, with health benefits. We are also open to considering two part-time roles for the right candidates.

Qualifications Profile

• Illinois State Teaching License
• Bachelor's from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or a related discipline applicable to teaching assignment.
