At MIYO Health (formerly TeleTeachers), we believe that communication and learning are basic human rights. Every day, students with visual impairments go without the support they need to thrive — and we’re not okay with that. Our mission is bold, our team is passionate, and we’re growing fast. We’re looking for an impact-driven, in-person Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to bring meaningful change to students in Suffolk, VA.

We’re a startup with big ideas and even bigger hearts. That means we’re small, nimble, and laser-focused on helping students and school partners succeed. If you’re passionate about student outcomes and excited to be part of something bigger than yourself, we’d love to meet you.

Position Details:

  • Start/End Date: August 4, 2025 - May 27, 2026

Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct instruction to students with visual impairments in school settings
  • Evaluate students for eligibility under IDEA and State Board rules
  • Conduct screenings and evaluations
  • Support Braille literacy
  • Maintain compliance with all documentation requirements
  • Develop and implement IEPs, Functional Vision Assessments (FVAs), and Learning Media Assessments (LMAs)

  • Adapt instructional materials and incorporate assistive technology to meet individual student needs
  • Collaborate closely with general education teachers, families, and school teams
  • Provide support and consultation to staff to ensure access to the general education curriculum
  • Preference will be given to candidates also certified in Orientation & Mobility
  • Familiarity with school-based Medicaid billing
  • Active Virginia certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (or eligibility for licensure – we will reimburse for cross-licensing if you are moving to the Suffolk, VA area soon!)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting
  • Experience with IEP development, FVAs, and LMAs
  • Knowledge of assistive technologies and instructional adaptations
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and time management skills
  • Organized, flexible, and deeply committed to educational equity
  • Ability to drive to schools in the Suffolk County, VA regional area and provide in-person TVI services

What We Offer:
