Job Description

Summary

Seeking a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide individualized educational support to students with visual impairments. The teacher will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), provide specially designed and differentiated instruction, monitor student progress, and collaborate with general education teachers, families, and related service providers. The goal of this position is to help students reach their full intellectual, emotional, and psychological potential while ensuring that their individual educational needs and IEP goals are effectively addressed.

What You’ll Do



  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) based on each student's strengths, needs, and educational goals.

  • Provide specially designed and differentiated instruction appropriate to individual student learning needs.

  • Implement the goals and objectives identified within students' IEPs.

  • Utilize assessments, progress-monitoring tools, and student data to evaluate achievement and adjust instruction.

  • Collaborate with general education teachers to promote inclusive instructional practices and co-teaching opportunities.

  • Work closely with related service providers to coordinate appropriate student supports.

  • Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to educational planning and decision-making.

  • Maintain regular communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress, needs, and instructional strategies.

  • Implement positive behavior interventions and supports when appropriate.

  • Maintain accurate and timely records regarding student performance, attendance, IEP services, and other special education requirements.

  • Participate in parent conferences, Professional Learning Communities, staff meetings, and district professional development.

  • Follow applicable school, district, state, and federal special education requirements.

  • Maintain required special education documentation in accordance with state and local policies and procedures.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive educational environment.

  • Remain current on educational practices, trends, and professional responsibilities.

  • Participate positively and productively on school, department, team, and district committees.

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students and colleagues.

  • Collaborate professionally with students, families, teachers, administrators, and other school personnel.

What You'll Need



  • Bachelor's degree or higher.

  • Required Kentucky teaching certificate for the assigned position.

  • Ability to effectively support and work with students.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers, related service professionals, administrators, and other adults.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, parents/guardians, and faculty.

  • Ability to develop and implement IEPs and specially designed instruction.

  • Ability to maintain accurate special education records and documentation.

  • Willingness and ability to complete required Restraint & Seclusion training.
