Teacher- PreK (4 year olds)

Job Title: PreK-4 Teacher 

Reports to: Pre school director, Principal 

Location: Sacred Heart Catholic  

FLSA Status: Exempt (Full-Time) 

Job Summary: 

The PreK-4 Teacher is responsible for creating a faith-filled, developmentally appropriate learning environment that promotes spiritual, academic, social, and emotional growth in accordance with the Florida Catholic Conference Early Childhood Standards and the mission of the Catholic Church. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Faith and Mission Integration 

• Integrate Catholic values and teachings into daily instruction and classroom culture. 
• Foster spiritual development through prayer, liturgy, and religious instruction in accordance with Diocesan guidelines. 
• Serve as a witness to faith through personal conduct and relationships with students and families. 

Instructional Planning and Delivery 

• Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with FCC standards and school curriculum. 
• Use developmentally appropriate instructional methods and materials that support the whole child. 
• Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs, including students with learning differences. 

Classroom Management and Environment 

• Maintain a safe, organized, and nurturing classroom that encourages exploration and independence. 
• Promote positive behavior and social-emotional skills using age-appropriate strategies. 
• Monitor student progress and provide ongoing feedback to students and families. 

Assessment and Documentation 

• Use formative and summative assessments to measure student growth and adjust instruction. 
• Maintain accurate and timely records, including attendance, assessments, and anecdotal notes. 
• Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and classroom events. 

Professional Responsibilities 

• Participate in professional development aligned with FCC and Diocesan standards. 
• Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and administration to enhance program quality. 
• Uphold all policies and procedures of the school, Diocese, and FCC accreditation requirements. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (required) 
• Florida State Certification in Early Childhood Education or eligible for certification 
• Faith-filled and actively practicing Catholic preferred 
• Experience with young children in a structured setting 
• Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills 
• Completion of Diocese-required background screening and Safe Environment Training 

Working Conditions: 

• Standard classroom environment with periods of active play and movement 
• Occasional evening or weekend events (e.g., parent meetings, school Masses, community events)
