Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Virtual Launchpad \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:10 \n\nSalary Range: $64,000.00 \u2013 $89,500.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 26-27 \n\n## POSITION SUMMARY\n\nProvide high-quality virtual instruction in Biology aligned to Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) standards within the HISD Virtual Launchpad program. Design and deliver rigorous, standards-based synchronous and asynchronous instruction that develops scientific reasoning, inquiry skills, data analysis, and conceptual understanding of biological systems. Facilitate engaging virtual laboratory experiences and simulations that reinforce TEKS-aligned investigation standards. Monitor student engagement and academic progress, provide timely and actionable feedback, and collaborate with program leadership to ensure instructional fidelity, compliance with district and TEA requirements, and measurable academic growth in a structured virtual learning environment.\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES\n\n\u25aa Deliver rigorous Biology instruction aligned to TEKS and STAAR EOC standards in a blended virtual format. \n\u25aa Design and implement engaging synchronous lessons and structured asynchronous learning modules. \n\u25aa Develop and facilitate virtual lab experiences and simulations aligned to safety and scientific investigation standards. \n\u25aa Modify curriculum and instructional strategies for virtual delivery while maintaining academic rigor. \n\u25aa Differentiate instruction to support diverse learners, including multilingual learners and students with accommodations. \n\u25aa Prepare students for successful completion of the Biology STAAR EOC exam. \n\u25aa Monitor attendance, participation, assignment completion, and mastery of scientific concepts. \n\u25aa Maintain accurate gradebook records and provide timely, actionable feedback. \n\u25aa Provide weekly tutorials, lab support sessions, and targeted intervention. \n\u25aa Support development of scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and data analysis skills.\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED\n\n\u25aa Collaborate with graduation coaches and counselors to ensure credit attainment. \n\u25aa Analyze formative and summative assessment data to inform instructional adjustments. \n\u25aa Ensure compliance with ADA reporting and district policies. \n\u25aa Maintain documentation aligned with TEA requirements. \n\u25aa Participate in progress monitoring meetings and instructional reviews. \n\u25aa Participate in virtual PLC meetings focused on data analysis and EOC preparation. \n\u25aa Collaborate with virtual Launchpad leadership and instructional staff. \n\u25aa Communicate regularly with families regarding student performance and progress. \n\u25aa Other duties as assigned.\n\n## POSITION REQUIREMENTS\n\nTYPE OF SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION \nSoftware\n\nHTML \nMicrosoft Office\n\nCertifications/Licensure\n\nTeacher Certification\n\nEquipment \nOffice equipment (e.g., computer, copier)\n\nLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES \n-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.\n\nWORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\n-Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing directions on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.\n\nBUDGET AUTHORITY \n-No budget development activity is required. \n\n## Education\n\n\u25aa Minimum of a Bachelor\u2019s degree from an accredited college or university. \n\u25aa Master\u2019s Degree optional \n\u25aa Texas Teacher Certificate appropriate for level and/or subject area of assignment.\n\n## Experience\n\nN/A\n\n## Other Requirements\n\nPROBLEM SOLVING\n\n-Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval.
