Job Description - Teacher, Virtual Launch Pad English I

Location: Hattie Mae White \n\nDepartment: Virtual Launchpad \n\nArea:District Wide \n\nContract Months:10 \n\nSalary Range: $64,000.00 \u2013 $89,500.00 \n\nAcademic Year: 26-27 \n\n## POSITION SUMMARY\n\nProvide high-quality virtual instruction in English I aligned to Texas TEKS and STAAR End-of-Course (EOC) standards within the HISD Virtual Launchpad program. Design and deliver rigorous, standards-based synchronous and asynchronous instruction that builds foundational reading comprehension, analytical writing, literary analysis, and critical thinking skills. Monitor student engagement and academic progress, provide timely and targeted interventions, and collaborate with program leadership to ensure instructional fidelity, compliance with district and TEA requirements, and measurable academic growth in a structured virtual learning environment.\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES\n\n1\\. Deliver rigorous English I instruction aligned to TEKS and STAAR EOC standards in a blended virtual format. \n2\\. Plan and implement engaging synchronous lessons and structured asynchronous learning modules. \n3\\. Design, modify, and adapt curriculum for virtual delivery while maintaining academic rigor. \n4\\. Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs, including multilingual learners and students receiving accommodations. \n5\\. Prepare students for successful completion of the English I STAAR EOC exam. \n6\\. Monitor attendance, participation, assignment completion, and academic progress. \n7\\. Maintain accurate gradebook records and provide timely, meaningful feedback. \n8\\. Conduct weekly tutorials, office hours, and intervention sessions. \n9\\. Collaborate with graduation coaches and counselors to support credit attainment.\n\n## ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES CONTINUED\n\n10\\. Support students in developing time management and independent learning skills in a virtual setting. \n11\\. Analyze assessment data to adjust instruction and intervention strategies. \n12\\. Ensure compliance with ADA requirements and district policies. \n13\\. Participate in grading cycles, progress monitoring meetings, and instructional reviews. \n14\\. Maintain required documentation aligned with district and TEA guidelines. \n15\\. Participate in virtual PLC meetings and data discussions. \n16\\. Collaborate with the leadership and instructional staff. \n17\\. Other duties as assigned.\n\n## POSITION REQUIREMENTS\n\nTYPE OF SKILL AND/OR REQUIRED LICENSING/CERTIFICATION \nSoftware\n\nHTML \nMicrosoft Office\n\n \nCertifications/Licensure\n\nTeacher Certification\n\nLEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES \nLevel 1-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.\n\n \nWORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT\n\n-Work is substantially complex, varied and regularly requires the selection and application of technical and detailed guidelines. Independent judgment is required to identify, select, and apply the most appropriate methods as well as interpret precedent. Position regularly makes recommendations to management on areas of significance to the department. Supervision received typically consists of providing directions on the more complex projects and new job duties and priorities.\n\n \nBUDGET AUTHORITY \n-No budget development activity is required. \n\n## Education\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree \nMaster\u0027s Degree optional\n\n## Experience\n\n1 to 3 years\n\n## Other Requirements\n\nPROBLEM SOLVING\n\n \n-Decisions are made on both routine and non-routine matters with some latitude but are still subject to approval. Effects are usually confined to the organization itself and is short term.\n\n \nCOMMUNICATION/INTERACTIONS\n\n \n-Collaborate and solve problems - work with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.\n\n \nCUSTOMER RELATIONSHIPS\n\n \n-Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up.
