Teacher's Aide - Music Focused

St. John the Baptist Catholic School in Johnsburg is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic part-time Music Teacher’s Aide to join our team. In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of the classroom teacher, assisting with music lessons and activities while the teacher remains the primary instructor of record. Essential Job Functions:

• Support the classroom teacher in planning and delivering engaging music lessons that inspire creativity and foster a love for music in students.
• Assist the teacher in supervising and guiding students during music instruction, rehearsals, and performances.
• Help integrate music into the Catholic faith by supporting lessons that include hymns, liturgical music, and seasonal celebrations.
• Maintain an organized and safe learning environment for music activities, including care of instruments and materials.
   

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Must be a practicing Catholic with knowledge of Catholic prayers, holidays, and teachings.
• Ability to collaborate and coordinate effectively under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
• Strong communication skills to engage with students and staff in a positive, respectful manner.
• Commitment to self-evaluation and professional growth.
• Professionalism in attire, communication, and demeanor.
   

Qualifications:

• High school diploma and a strong background in music performance or instruction.
• Must complete the Safe Environment requirements of the Rockford Diocese Virtus program.
• Must be able to pass a fingerprint and background check.
• Must be 21+ years of age.
   

Job Summary:

• Hours: To be determined based on the school’s music schedule (part-time position).
• Position: Part-time, unbenefitted.
• Salary Expectations:  $15/an hour
• Supervision: The classroom teacher will always be present and responsible for instruction; this role is to assist and support that instruction.
