About the Position:


We are seeking motivated candidates for the position of Team Lead in the Court Records Unit of the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. As a Team Lead, you will oversee and coordinate the daily activities of Customer Representative Associates, ensuring high-quality service and compliance with agency procedures. This position plays a crucial role in mentoring staff, supporting public safety, and ensuring operational efficiency through the consistent and accurate processing of customer records and documentation.

In this role, you will:



  • Supervise, support, and evaluate a team, including conducting performance reviews.

  • Collaborate with the Court Records Supervisor to coordinate training, mentoring, and guidance for team members.

  • Respond to public inquiries via phone and email and assist branch and mainline customer calls.

  • Ensure proper documentation and service processing, including generating correspondence, hardship letters, and verification forms.

  • Reconcile revenue collections and deposits to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.

  • Contribute to a professional, respectful, and service-oriented office environment.



Preferences will be given to candidates who have:



  • Experience supervising or mentoring staff in a public-facing service environment.

  • Familiarity with Maine’s motor vehicle laws, forms, and recordkeeping procedures.

  • A strong commitment to public service and continuous improvement.

  • Experience with performance management, employee coaching, and training.



Minimum Qualifications:


Training, education, or experience in office and administrative support work that demonstrates:



  1. Competency in applying a solid knowledge of the principles and practices of quality customer service to perform complex work in assisting the public with applications, fees, examinations, or social services that have an eligibility or compliance component.

  2. The ability to use independent decision-making on the appropriate processes to follow, information to process, and actions to take under standard procedures.


All positions in this classification assume the qualifications of: Customer Representative Assistant I, Customer Representative Assistant II, and Customer Representative Associate I.
