Team Lead - Sewing - Room for Advancement

Overview:
The Team Lead is responsible for supporting the production operations and other assigned department(s). This individual helps with coordination of activities within his/her scope of control and sets priorities to accomplish business goals. The Team Lead is a "hands on” working lead role and may be asked to perform duties of an operator or forklift driver while managing a team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Establish standard work and work sequence for the team.
• Anticipate and eliminate problems that may affect the team's ability to perform.
• Lead continuous improvement events within their designated team.
• Give proper instructions on packaging and workstation operation, according to specific jobs.
• Cross train team on various workstations.
• Carryout company rules and regulations.
• Communicate with manager and general supervisor on the day-to-day operations, material needs, and employee issues.
• Communicate material overage and/or shortages with the warehouse.
• Perform routine quality checks.
• Promote a safe work environment.
• Record, notify, and report unsafe working conditions immediately to the department supervisor and the Environmental, Health and Safety Coordinator, and Human Resources.
• Assist with the flow of material through embroidery and sewing operations.
• Perform maintenance tasks required to maintain sewing machines.
• Inspect for compliance to quality, craftsmanship and sewing standards.
• Provide suggestions to improve sewing operation and flow of orders through the area/plant.
• Assist if needed to sew fabric, leather and foam necessary to complete seat and service orders.

• Fill-in for missing team members as needed.
• Maintain 5S standards.
• Other duties as assigned.
