The Team Leader, Target will serve as the day-to-day business owner for Beiersdorf's Legacy Brands (NIVEA, Aquaphor, Eucerin & Coppertone) at Target, driving profitable sales growth through effective strategy development and execution. This role requires an entrepreneurial leader who makes real-time commercial decisions with confidence, brings strategic recommendations and solutions rather than open questions, and thrives in a fast-paced environment. The Team Leader is a critical partner to the Director, Target—collaborating on strategic priorities while independently owning execution, team development, and commercial delivery. This role has two direct reports—one National Account Manager (NAM) and one Account Manager (AM)—and is based in the Minneapolis, MN area.
Your Tasks
- Lead and develop the Target U.S. Legacy sales team, currently one National Account Manager (NAM) and one Account Manager (AM), driving team performance, accountability, and a culture of ownership
- Operate as the day-to-day business owner for Target, translating Director-level strategy into actionable execution plans across all Legacy brands
- Lead development and implementation of strategic business plans across the Target merchandising team
- Serve as the subject matter expert and internal advocate for Target key initiatives within Beiersdorf
- Deliver sales and KPI scorecard metrics, top-line and bottom-line growth objectives, and brand share gains
- Own the Target sales forecast with accuracy and accountability—proactively identifying risks, opportunities, and course corrections before they escalate to Director-level review
- Own the day-to-day relationship cadence with Target retail partners, engaging the Director strategically at key commercial moments
- Proactively identify business challenges and opportunities, bringing well-developed recommendations and solutions that enable faster, higher-quality strategic decisions
- Successfully manage and develop team structure that includes several non-direct reports (Sales Controlling/Supply Chain/Replenishment)
- Ensure controls are maintained to spend within budget on trade, promotions, and shopper marketing programs
- Lead customer JBP, customer events, and innovation summits across multiple departments to provide feedback on new item concepts and account opportunities for growth
Your Profile
- BS/BA required, MBA or master's degree preferred
- Experience in Consumer Packaged Goods Industry
- 10+ years of CPG Sales, Trade Marketing, Sales Strategy, or similar discipline experience
- 5+ years of experience in Field Sales or similar discipline, selling to at least two channels
- Demonstrated ability to operate independently, make commercial decisions with confidence, and drive results without requiring constant senior leadership direction
- Leadership experience with proven track record of developing high-performing teams
- Project management experience with high visibility to leadership and proven track record of meeting deadlines
- Proven experience in managing and building teams, developing strong relationships across functions, and ability to influence key decision makers
- Proven ability to think strategically leveraging data sources like Circana/NIQ and increase effectiveness at achieving overall strategies in a highly collaborative environment
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills to influence and secure cross-functional support at all levels in the organization
- Must have high-level analytical skills and business acumen to build strong business cases for change
- Must be technology savvy and have strong office productivity software skills (e.g., PowerPoint, Excel, SAP) to use promotion databases, financial reporting, and promotional analysis
- Base Salary Range: $176,300 - $221,100 base salary
