Job Description - Team Member - Nursery

Staff in our nursery are responsible for the day-to-day operations as it relates to specimen health and water deficiency, aesthetic order suitable for client walk-throughs, and helping with the arrival and departure of bulk materials and nursery and greenhouse stock. Applicants must be able to handle the physical demands of the job, working long hours outdoors, as well as adapting easily to schedule changes. On-the-job training is provided, as well as incentives for certifications and past experience.

Essential Functions:



  • Unload delivery trucks with nursery or greenhouse material, bulk materials or other items as needed.

  • Auger holes for nursery stock.

  • Ensure that drip lines are installed and operable for each specimen.

  • Manage weed population.

  • Assist with mowing/weed whipping of multiple properties.

  • Occasionally assist with installation of plant material on job sites.

  • Keep nursery rows free and clear of debris and in such a state for client walk-throughs.

  • Prune trees for optimal growth.

  • Manage fertilization and pesticide application.

  • Load fleet vehicles with nursery/greenhouse and bulk material to be taken to construction sites.

  • Manage parking area and driveway grading.

  • Survey plant and sod material for overall health and water deficiency, and report issues as needed.

  • Work together with greenhouse staff to meet division goals and deadlines.

  • Protect plant material from animal damage.

  • Assist clients and property guests with identification and selection of material.

  • Capable of adapting to new challenges.
