Tech Lead Engineer

Responsibilities

Technical Leadership & System Design:

• Lead the design and implementation of scalable, secure, and fault-tolerant systems for a high-traffic web platform, leveraging microservices, APIs, and cloud-native solutions;
• Define and drive the engineering roadmap, aligning technical solutions with business objectives and ensuring scalability for future growth;
• Review technical proposals from the team and make final calls to ensure robust architectural decisions.

Engineering & Development:

• Write robust, scalable, and reusable code (e.g., in Python or similar languages) to build and maintain backend systems, integrating with third-party APIs (e.g., payment processors, logistics, analytics);
• Ensure consistent, high-quality code standards;
• Perform code reviews, assist in solving technical problems, and foster a collaborative development environment.

Scaling & Performance Optimization:

• Design and optimize database systems (SQL/NoSQL) to support high transaction volumes and large datasets;
• Lead the implementation of caching strategies (e.g., Redis), load balancing, and CDN solutions to ensure low latency and high availability;
• Troubleshoot performance issues and ensure stable operation through monitoring, alerts, and metrics.

Team Collaboration & Mentorship:

• Collaborate with a team of developers to deliver high-quality solutions, promoting a culture of teamwork, innovation, and shared accountability;
• Promote knowledge sharing across the team through technical discussions, documentation, and adoption of best practices;
• Assist the engineering manager in matching projects to engineers’ skills and workloads to optimize team performance;
• Conduct technical interviews and assess candidates’ skills to ensure the right fit for the team.

Innovation & Technical Strategy:

• Participate in requirements and implementation discussions to align technical directions with product goals;
• Drive initiatives for A/B testing, analytics integration, and user journey optimization to enhance engagement and conversion rates.

Requirements

Technical Expertise:

• 5+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years building and scaling high-traffic web applications;
• Advanced proficiency in backend-focused languages like Python or similar;
• Expertise in frameworks like Django/FastAPI, or similar for backend development;
• Strong experience with database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB) and performance optimization techniques;
• Proficiency with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).

Architecture & Scaling:

• Proven track record of leading the design and scaling of high-traffic web applications;
• Expertise in microservices, REST/GraphQL APIs, and distributed systems design;
• Experience with performance optimization strategies, including caching, load balancing, and CDNs.

Leadership & Collaboration Skills:

• 2+ years of experience working in or leading engineering teams, with a focus on collaboration, code reviews, and knowledge sharing;
• Ability to make strategic technical decisions and communicate clearly with technical and non-technical stakeholders;
• Experience assisting with project assignments and conducting technical interviews to build strong teams.

Soft skills:

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills;
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment;
• Collaborative mindset with a focus on fostering team success and driving innovation.
