Technical Area Manager

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Technical Area Manager to join our team as an OXE brand ambassador. The ideal candidate will have a thorough knowledge of marine vessel systems with a focus on electrical and mechanical systems and will have preferably worked in a marine service-related capacity for 6-8 years. Applicants with a background working with outboards is preferred.

As a Technical Area Manager, you will be responsible for monitoring and implementing routines and processes for service operation. You will monitor warranty processes and report on quality issues both internally and externally. Additionally, you will give recommendations for competence and development, monitor and follow up on Dealer Operating Standards, and support dealers in work methods and repair guidance.

A typical day in the life of a TAM at OXE Marine varies, but your primary responsibilities will include:

• Providing service management counseling and onsite training of OXE outboard systems and processes
• Investigating, diagnosing, and resolving service-related product malfunctions and issues
• Completing and submitting detailed reports on field-related activities as necessary
• Completing ongoing evaluations of all dealers and assisting them with a business plan to upgrade their OXE products, service, and profitability to provide ultimate customer satisfaction
• Identifying regional running environment or applications that affect the running characteristics or durability of OXE products and reporting to service, manufacturing, and quality engineering groups
• Communicating information to service, manufacturing, and quality engineering groups
• Interacting with sales department for territory account management responsibilities
• Managing career development for dealer technicians while interacting with OXE to promote technician training advancement
• Facilitating new service talent to the marine industry by promoting and supporting local trade schools and high school vocational programs as directed
• Advising OEMs of product configuration, training, installation, and integration as required
• Organizing site visits to provide improved dealer and OEM support
• Participating and assisting the Marketing department with local, regional, national boat shows, tournaments, and special events as required. International travel is required.

To be successful in this role, you must have excellent interpersonal skills necessary to deal with dealers, customers, brokers, and OEM’s. You must also have the ability to work independently and hands-on, make accurate decisions, and analyze risk. In addition, you must have excellent computer and technology skills and be able to capitalize on effective communication and documentation through digital media. International travel is required, and you must possess and maintain a valid passport and any other documentation required to travel internationally.

The minimum educational requirement for this position is an associate degree in Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience). A license to operate boats is preferred.
