Job Summary
Description

The mission of the Learning & Competencies team is to develop skills within the workforce that support career development and help meet ConocoPhillips' strategic objectives. As Technical Learning Advisor, you will lead the development of the technical training programs for one or more petrotechnical disciplines and for areas where cross-functional learning may be desired for these disciplines. Initially, this role will be dedicated to leading learning programs for the Wells discipline.

The Technical Learning Advisor role is an excellent development opportunity for an energetic employee with a petrotechnical or operational background. The role requires engagement and networking with global technical leadership, Talent Management Team members, and key Business Unit stakeholders to develop high-impact learning plans. Technical Learning advisers grow their own technical skills and strengthen stakeholder management, integration, and influencing skills in their collaboration with the business.

If selected as the Technical Learning Advisor, you will take a lead role in developing the technical discipline training strategy and development program in partnership with Global Technical Function leaders and BU stakeholders. You will help define skill gaps and learning required to deliver business goals and will translate that into learning plans that deliver the most impactful and engaging learning solutions.

This role is based in Houston.

Job Description

Your responsibilities may include:

Ensure all Learning and Development solutions are aligned with the needs and requirements of the business
Perform Technical Training and Development front end analysis and needs assessments with the Technical Functions and Business Units
Provide support in the development and maintenance of technical curricula across all stages of an employee's career. Work with multiple disciplines and business units to incorporate new skills, applications, and technologies into the curricula
Provide periodic updates on learning plans and programs to senior leaders in Technology, Business Units as well as with other functional groups within ConocoPhillips
Lead, manage, and resource learning projects at various stages of the development lifecycle
Provide research and insight regarding best learning practices and learning solutions to improve performance
Partner with the business to create, analyze and apply learning measures and metrics to assess: Instructor and course performance, Resulting performance of learners, Performance and cost effectiveness of external training suppliers, and Efficiency of learning program delivery
Provide learning budgets and resourcing forecasts and ensure execution of annual learning plan
Address benchmarking opportunities with peer and service companies, and seek outside-industry best practices
Travel to Business Unit locations when necessary to collaborate with stakeholders and ensure quality, consistency, and support of learning plans and program delivery
Interact with appropriate Talent Management Teams (TMTs) to solicit learning and development requirements, competency alignment, and to provide input for talent movement, etc.
Basic/Required:

Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Geoscience, technical related discipline, or foreign equivalent
7 or more years of experience in the petroleum industry
Intermediate proficiency in MS O365 applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint, and Teams
Preferred:

Master's Degree in Engineering, Geoscience, related field, or foreign equivalent
3 or more years of experience partnering and/or consulting with key business leaders
1 or more years of experience in facilitating and managing several projects simultaneously
1 or more years of experience in the field of Learning and Development
1 or more years of experience in multiple roles and/or BU locations
1 or more years of experience applying and utilizing Data Analytics
Intermediate proficiency in Spotfire or Power BI
Intermediate knowledge of industry and innovative technologies that are being introduced
Understanding of business processes, policies, procedures, and contracts
Builds positive relationships across organizations that develop a strong work environment
Ability to work effectively with multiple disciplines in a team environment
Demonstrated ability to establish relationships with and to influence senior leaders
Demonstrated ability to drive and deliver results without direct authority
Encourages new ways of looking at problems, processes, and solutions
