Work involves responsibility for technical operations including sound, lighting and rigging systems as well as building mechanical systems. Employees in this class work with a great deal of latitude and independent judgment abiding by established policies and procedures. General direction is received from an assigned manager.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Management
Effectively manages assignments and priorities to ensure the fulfillment of projects, tasks, and responsibilities
Follows suggested procedures to assure the highest standards of risk management, employee safety and risk avoidance
Recruits, trains, supervises and organizes technical crews for production to include staff, contractual employees, and volunteers
May involve responsibility for developing, organizing, supervising and/or instructing a specialized technical area
Participates in the development and implementation of the department budget as related to equipment replacement, repair, and maintenance of the building and equipment
Maintains assigned budget, orders equipment, schedules repair and maintenance following established procedures
Technical
Manages technical coordination of sound, light, rigging and all related equipment for assigned performances
Manages facility and equipment repairs and maintenance, both routine and specialized
Organizes and controls scene shop, theater space, tools, equipment, and inventory control under established safety policies and procedures
Participates in the development and implementation of a production calendar
Schedules technical staff as required by the performance program
Manages production meetings, technical rehearsals, performances, and strike
Assists with complex technical needs for departmental events and external programs
Conducts event or production set-ups and supervision, facility and equipment inspections, and daily opening and closing of the facility
Team Skills

Collaborates with all team members in a way that builds upon ideas and takes personal accountability and ownership of projects, roles, and assignments

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Arts Management, Theater, or a closely related field, and three (3) years directly related paid experience in a theater; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Must be certified in both Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillators (AED) within six (6) months of hire
Valid Driver's License
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Considerable knowledge in audio visual equipment, theater lighting designs, rigging systems, catwalk systems and inventory controls
Knowledge of building systems
Ability to train and supervise staff, contractors and volunteer technical crews for productions
Demonstrated leadership skills with strong communication skills
Ability to maintain effective working relationship with performers, community groups, other employees and the general public
Ability to prepare clear and adequate reports and maintain records
Computer skills in word processing and spreadsheets
WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work Environment: 95% inside a climate controlled building; 5% outside which may include driving.
Physical Requirements: The essential functions of the job require sitting approximately two (2) hours per day, standing approximately three (3) hours per day, and walking approximately three (3) hours per day. The work requires frequent bending/stooping, climbing, crawling, fine manipulations, grasping, kneeling, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, and lifting/carrying small objects and objects weighing between 15 and 44 pounds, with occasionally objects weighing over 45 pounds.
Sensory Requirements: Hearing: Ability to understand what others are saying in normal conversation in person and on the telephone, and the ability to detect specific noises and the proper equipment operation. Speaking: Ability to communicate orally with others in person, on the telephone, and while giving formal presentations to groups. Seeing: Ability to see and read computer monitor screens, operate a vehicle, and read fine print.
Driving Requirements: Requires occasional driving and possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.
Technology: The work requires ability to operate telephones, smart phones, tablets, photocopiers, printers, desktop and/or laptop computers, calculators and all associated software. The work also requires proficiency with computer hardware and software programs including word, spreadsheet and/or database applications, internet applications, and database management.
Other Machines: The work requires the ability to operate the following machines: computer based audio equipment and computer based lighting equipment.
Tools: The work requires proficiency with power and hand tools.
