Role Overview\n\nThe Photonics Platforms group (PPB) is a fast\u2011growing, startup\u2011style organization within Applied Materials pioneering nano\u2011photonic technologies to power next\u2011generation Augmented Reality devices. We are now in a hyper-growth phase with the launch of our manufacturing fab and ever more intense innovation.\n\nWe are seeking a Technical Program Management (TPM) Lead to head our TPM function and lead a team of three TPMs. This senior leader will define and scale program execution across a portfolio of cutting\u2011edge R\u0026D and device commercialization programs. The TPM Lead will operate in a highly ambiguous, extremely fast\u2011moving environment and build the systems, processes, and organizational muscles required for PPB to deliver a first\u2011of\u2011its\u2011kind AR product at scale.\n\nThis role requires a hybrid of strategic leadership, cross\u2011functional orchestration, people management, and operational excellence. The ideal candidate has deep experience taking components from prototype to mass production, excels at rapid scaling, and thrives in greenfield environments where many processes must be built from scratch.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead end\u2011to\u2011end execution of complex technical programs spanning R\u0026D, systems engineering, device development, and manufacturing readiness.\n * Translate ambiguous technical and business objectives into clear program plans, milestones, dependencies, and success criteria.\n * Drive programs through key development phases (EVT/DVT/PVT), ensuring technical, schedule, and risk readiness at each gate.\n * Identify, track, and mitigate technical and execution risks; surface issues early and drive resolution across cross\u2011functional teams.\n * Coordinate execution across optics, electronics, systems, process engineering, manufacturing, supplier engineering, and operations.\n * Partner with Product, Finance, and Operations to align scope, timelines, and resource plans.\n * Provide clear, concise program status, trade\u2011offs, and recommendations to senior technical and executive leadership.\n * Operate effectively in a fast\u2011paced, high\u2011ambiguity startup environment where processes are evolving and execution rigor is critical.\n\n\n\nProgram Execution \u0026 Process Alignment\n\n * Execute within program management frameworks developed by the PMO, ensuring strong adoption and execution discipline at the program level.\n * Provide feedback from live program execution to improve scalability, clarity, and effectiveness of program governance.\n * Balance rigor and agility, applying the right level of process based on program maturity and technical risk.\n\n\n\nSkills \u0026 Competencies\n\n * Demonstrated ability to lead programs with significant technical, organizational, and schedule risk.\n * Strong systems thinking with the ability to connect device physics, process development, manufacturing constraints, and business priorities.\n * Proven ability to operate independently as a senior IC and drive outcomes without formal authority.\n * Excellent communication skills; able to influence senior technical leaders and executives through data and structured reasoning.\n * High tolerance for ambiguity and rapid change; comfortable building clarity where none exists.\n\n\n\nRequired Experience\n\n * 10\u201315+ years of Technical Program Management experience in fast\u2011paced hardware organizations.\n * Semiconductor industry background is required, including experience with wafer\u2011level processes, device fabrication, or semiconductor manufacturing flows.\n * Demonstrated success delivering complex hardware programs from prototype through production readiness.\n * Master\u2019s degree in Engineering or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.\n\n\n\n## Qualifications\n\n### Education:\n\nBachelor\u0027s Degree\n\n### Skills\n\n### Certifications:\n\n### Languages:\n\n### Years of Experience:\n\n10 - 15 Years\n\n### Work Experience:\n\n## Additional Information\n\n### \n\n### Shift:\n\n10-Day 8-Hr (United States of America)\n\n### \n\n### Travel:\n\nYes, 10% of the Time\n\n### \n\n### Relocation Eligible:\n\nYes\n\n### Referral Payment Plan:\n\nEmployee Referral (Standard)\n\nU.S. Salary Range:\n\n$154,000.00 - $212,000.00\n\nThe salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
