Technical writers play a critical role in enabling on-time delivery of new products by collaborating closely with engineering teams to develop, review, and release high-quality documentation required for product shipment and customer delivery.\n\nIn addition, technical writers help address safety-related issues and customer escalations, often under urgent timelines. This ensures accurate and compliant documentation is available to support safe product use in the field and directly contributes to customer satisfaction and successful product adoption.\n\n## What you will do\n\nThe technical writer in this position is responsible for creating and editing technical procedures and manuals for Lam internal and external customers. This regular full-time position will be based in Fremont, California, and the writer will work closely with engineers, core writing staff, and cross-functional teams across Lam Research\u2019s global regions.\n\nPrimary responsibilities:\n\n * Create and thoroughly edit technical procedures and manuals for internal and external customers.\n * Collaborate with engineers and core writing staff to finalize procedures using Microsoft Word.\n * Ensure accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of technical content.\n * Create product manuals in the Content Management System (CMS).\n * Obtain information from engineering sources, edit the information for accuracy and completeness, and incorporate it into procedures.\n * Attend and contribute to content team meetings, and provide status and plans for future deliverables.\n\n\n\n## Who we are looking for\n\nThe ideal candidate for this position must have the following:\n\n * A minimum of a bachelor\u2019s degree, preferably in one of the following fields of study: \nTechnical Writing, English, Communications, or Journalism\n * Note: A different degree (for example, an engineering degree) is acceptable but excellent writing skills are required.\n\n\n * Minimum of 2 years of writing or editing experience\n\n\n * The following mandatory skills and experience:\n * Strong English language skills (this is a MUST have)\n * Work experience in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint\n * The following personal skills:\n * Excellent editing and writing skills\n * Strong attention to detail\n * Excellent organizational skills\n * Ability to work well in a team environment\n * Good communication skills\n\n\n\n## Preferred skills\n\nExperience with:\n\n * DITA XML \n * Content Management System (CMS)\n * Adobe Acrobat\n * SnagIt or an equivalent software tool\n * SharePoint\n * Adobe Photoshop \n * Adobe Illustrator\n\n\n\n## Our commitment\n\nWe believe it is important for every person to feel valued, included, and empowered to achieve their full potential. Our hybrid roles combine the benefits of on-site collaboration with colleagues and the flexibility to work remotely and fall into two categories \u2013 On-site Flex and Virtual Flex. \u2018On-site Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 3+ days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, with the opportunity to work remotely for the balance of the week. \u2018Virtual Flex\u2019 you\u2019ll work 1-2 days per week on-site at a Lam or customer/supplier location, and remotely the rest of the time.\n\n#LI-BW2\n\nSalary\n\nCA San Francisco Bay Area Salary Range for this position: $72,000.00 - $170,000.00.\n\nThe above salary range for this position is relevant to applicants that reside or work onsite in the California, San Francisco Bay Area only. Salary offers will depend on factors that include the location you work from, your level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience and comparison to other employees already in this role.
