Job Description - Technical Writer

What are we looking for?

The Technical Writer will be responsible for providing comprehensive technical writing, copy editing, desktop publishing, and maintenance support for programmatic and operational documentation related to DHP systems, programs, and activities.

Fun stuff you will do on the job:

Provide technical guidance to the Program Evaluation Branch in developing, organizing, and updating scientific and programmatic data/information for publication.
Prepare monthly reports summarizing key themes from Monitoring & Evaluation project activities.
Utilize best practices in data visualization techniques to develop tables, figures, and slide presentations for reporting Monitoring & Evaluation data.
Ensure all documents are 508-compliant for publishing on the Web.
Develop, format, copy edit, review, update, and provide desktop publishing and graphic design support for scientific and programmatic documents, including supplemental reports and publications.
Assist with clearance processes for publishing and posting online documents, tracking document review and clearance progress.
Maintain and manage documents in the designated document management system, maintaining accurate records of all legacy, current, and pending technical documents.
This is you:

Proven experience in technical writing, copy editing, and desktop publishing.
Familiarity with data visualization techniques and methods.
Proficiency in document management systems.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Experience with clearance processes for publishing documents is a plus.
Education:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as English, Communications, or a related discipline.

Familiarity with data visualization techniques and methods.
Proficiency in document management systems.
Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

Currently due to the remote working status of the federal government, most DRT employees are teleworking from home and leveraging video conferencing along with other virtual productivity tools. Under normal circumstances, most of our positions are required to report onsite. However, DRT has not yet determined when employees will be required to return to their onsite workspaces. Please be aware that at the time a date is determined to return to the worksite, the requirement of this position may be to report in person to the work location.
