Job Description - Technician I - Shoreline

Essential job functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Perform shoreline and waterway maintenance activities, including removal of trash, debris, and navigational hazards.
  • Assist with the installation, retrieval, and maintenance of navigational and hazard markers.
  • Support removal and disposal of abandoned or unsafe shoreline structures in accordance with established procedures.
  • Operate boats, vehicles, and equipment necessary to perform assigned tasks.
  • Conduct routine inspection and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
  • Comply with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of equipment and machinery operation.
  • Understanding of boating safety practices and procedures.
  • Ability to follow instructions and established work processes.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in outdoor environments.

Education, Training, Experience:

  • Minimum High School diploma or GED required, vocational or trade school preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience with 1 year operating a boat and 1 year operating heavy equipment or combined experience preferred.

Certificates, Registrations, Licenses:

  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license, or the ability to convert within 30 days for those with an out of state driver’s license that are an Oklahoma resident, required.
  • Valid Oklahoma (or state of residence) Class A Commercial Driver’s License, or ability to obtain Class A Commercial Driver’s License within 1 year
  • State approved boating safety course strongly preferred.

Physical/Mental Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand and walk on uneven ground, slippery surfaces.
  • Must be able to swim.
  • Must be able to lift, move and carry weights of 50 lb. on a regular basis.
  • Boating on river/lake 6- 8 hours per day.
  • Must be able to perform work outdoors in all types of weather.

Other information:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • This position is located at the GRDA Ecosystems and Education Center in Langley, Ok.
  • Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
