Teen Camp Director

Summary: Manheim Township's Teen Adventure Camp is an 8-week summer camp running mid-June to early August for kids grades 7-10. Working hours will vary Monday-Thursday between the hours of 8:30am-4:30pm. Select mandatory training schedule will be provided by the program manager. The camp utilizes township parks for camp activities in addition to multiple field trips each week. This seasonal position provides a leadership/supervisory role for the camp. The Teen Camp Director will be in direct contact with children, counselors, parents, and will report to the Youth Program Manager.

Essential Functions

1. Oversee day-to-day operations of Teen Adventure Camp including staff management and emergency protocols.


2. Responsible for the Teen Camp cell phone and other township equipment/supplies throughout the season.


3. Act as the primary point of contact for parents/guardians and handle communications through the cellphone and teen camp email address.


4. Supervise campers' daily activities, including active supervision and engagement when at the Overlook Pool.


5. Plan weekly schedule with counselors following the appropriate shifts.


6. Ensure each camper is appropriately signed in and out each day.


7. Provide a leadership role to camp counselors. Assign roles and delegate tasks for the day.


8. Ensure campers are always in a safe environment.


9. Lead structured games, activities, and crafts independently and as part of a team.


10. Handle, document and communicate any minor behavioral and medical issues with parents. Document and report major behavioral and medical issues to Youth Program Manager.


11. Assure camp areas are clean and organized throughout each day.


12. Assist with preparations for future weeks by preparing camp rosters, newsletters, activities, and supplies.

Physical Requirements

1. Able to stand, sit and walk for extended periods of time and intermittently.


2. Ability to reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally stoop, kneel, or crouch.


3. Ability to talk, hear, and see.


4. Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.


5. Occasional lifting of up to 15lbs.

Required Education and Experience

1. Enrolled in a secondary education program for Education, Park and Rec, or related field.


2. 2-years supervising children.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Certified Teacher for a PA school.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

2. Must have a valid PA Driver's License.


3. Must pass required State and Federal Background Checks.
