PenTeleData, the industry leader in data transport, Internet, voice, Wi-Fi, security and consultative services throughout the Northeast, is aggressively hiring a Telecom Sales Engineering Product Development Specialist to guide product development and streamline processes within the Sales Engineering team.
The Product Development Specialist works in partnership with department leadership to develop new service solutions and implement improvements to existing service offers. Will use the product development roadmap to produce technical design, deployment and support specifications that assist in the realization of defined product requirements including customer experience and functionality.The Product Development Specialist will maintain intimate knowledge of vendor offerings, industry trends and customer needs by having direct interaction with customers, Sales Engineering, Sales Management and PenTeleData partners.
Typical duties required for the position include:
Proactively evaluating the current voice services product portfolio and identifying areas for improvement
Evaluating offered solutions to identify opportunities to develop and enhance management and support solutions
Leading on assigned projects including product development and enhancements
Delivering product specifications, design guidance and pre-sales support materials to staff for new products or product feature enhancements
Recommending and assisting in the development of improved product documentation for presales, sales and support organizations for distribution both internally and to customers
Leading in the development and maintenance of the technical aspects of product documentation for internal use
Leading in the development and maintenance of the customer facing product documentation
Acting as a technical escalation contact for the Voice Sales Engineering team, Support teams and Management.
These requests may need to be handled outside normal working hours.
Clearly communicating with customers and traveling to customer sites for meetings and support
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Electronics OR 7-10 years related experience
Established residency in Pennsylvania
Valid PA Driver's License and good driving record
Previous work with an ISP or enterprise level network
Voice Certifications in VoIP, SIP, PBX or similar
Completed CCNA or similar courses - current certifications preferred
Solid background and understanding of the following voice features
Hosted phone
Call Center
SMS messaging
Mobile solutions
PRI/SIP trunks
POTS solutions
Strong understanding of basic routing, subnetting, switching and VLANs
Strong understanding of VoIP and SIP technologies
Basic understanding of Session Boarder Controllers
Proficiency using Wireshark or equivalent troubleshooting tools
Solid understanding of SIP signaling and dialog
Strong knowledge of Microsoft suite of products: Outlook, Excel, Word and Visio
A basic working understanding of Salesforce is a plus
Programming Skills in Perl or Python a plus
Strong Customer Service and Interpersonal Skills
Strong Communication Skills - oral and written
Strong Organizational Skills
Very strong Project Management Skills
Ability to coordinate projects across multiple departments and staff
Ability to work well under pressure or within strict deadlines
Ability to manage processes, create documenting and maintain procedures
Ability to demonstrate logical thinking
Ability to travel throughout our service footprint as needed
