Position Summary
The Teller serves as a key frontline representative of the Bank, responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the accurate, efficient, and secure processing of customer financial transactions. This position handles a wide range of banking activities including deposits, withdrawals, money orders, transfers, and check cashing with strict adherence to the Bank’s policies, regulatory requirements, and internal control procedures. Tellers directly support the Bank’s mission by promoting products and services, safeguarding customer information, mitigating risk, and upholding the highest standards of professionalism, accuracy, and integrity.
Primary Responsibilities
Process customer transactions including deposits, withdrawals, transfers, check cashing, and night depository deposits with accuracy and efficiency.
Meet established Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to transaction accuracy, customer service standards, compliance requirements, and overall branch performance.
Verify customer identity, validate checks, and ensure negotiable instruments meet Bank standards.
Receive, count, and balance cash at the beginning and end of each shift in accordance with established procedures.
Record and document all transactions accurately while maintaining organized and up-to-date records.
Identify customer banking needs and recommend appropriate products and services.
Maintain compliance with Bank policies, procedures, code of conduct, BSA/AML regulations, and all applicable federal and territorial guidelines.
Detect and prevent fraudulent transactions, managing risk to protect the Bank and its customers.
Assist customers with paperwork such as deposit slips, withdrawal forms, and account-related inquiries.
Use banking software and systems to track transactions, generate reports, and maintain customer information.
Provide exceptional customer service while maintaining a courteous and professional environment.
Qualifications and Skills
High school diploma or GED; or 2+ years of relevant experience in banking, operations, sales, or customer service.
Knowledge of branch operations, retail banking processes, and commercial account services.
Basic understanding of state and federal banking regulations and Bank operational policies.
Proficiency with computers, teller systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
Strong numerical accuracy and the ability to count currency and negotiable instruments efficiently.
Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, solve problems, and work under periods of stress or high customer volume.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to work with general supervision while maintaining accuracy and accountability.
