Job Description - Temp Programs and Event Production Coordinator

Overview

The Programs and Event Production Coordinator is conceived as a temporary role to last an initial 6-12 weeks. The Coordinator will work directly with the Rose Art Museum director to develop and plan a calendar of public programs to take place September through December 2026, which will include a VIP event on September 8 and a public reception in celebration of opening fall shows on September 9.

Partnerships and Initiation of Projects: 20%

Together with the museum director, and collaborating with other museum staff as appropriate, the Coordinator will be responsive to contacts with students, faculty, and staff constituencies on campus as well as organizational partners in the interest of maintaining museum relationships. The Coordinator may initiate new collaborative projects or programs in discussion with the director and curatorial team.

Generating/Discussing Ideas and Implementing: 65%

The Coordinator will work with the curatorial team and museum educator on generating ideas and putting programs/events on the calendar and act as project manager for upcoming events, taking primary responsibility for logistical implementation of programs and liaising with Brandeis departments, vendors, presenters, galleries, etc. as necessary to ensure successful events. Book presenters, draft PowerPoint slides, run Zoom meetings for further planning and rehearsal, etc.

Event Producer Contact: 15%

Serve as a point person for program registrants and forward any accessibility/accommodations requests to Deputy Director. Set up surveys and evaluate results after programs, if applicable. Work with students as assigned.

The hourly rate for the position is $38 and will work about 10 hours a week.

Related Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree in relevant field or equivalent work experience. Master's degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

Work Experience: 3-5 years

Preferred: Experience in event production, project mgmt, budgets; modern/contemporary art knowledge; excellent communication skills; strong collaboration; commitment to DEIA and exp working w/diverse people and groups; ability to present information at all levels; self-directed; mission-oriented; patient, innovative, adaptive; 100% onsite.

Summary of Position Information

Engaging, diverse, top quality, high-profile programming is a cornerstone of the museum’s strategic plan and mission. To do this well, learning about scheduled exhibition content is part of the role. An expectation is that the Coordinator will be able to envision and help translate exhibition themes, artists’ concerns, and related issues from public life into enriching programs with educational outcomes.
