Accounting Operations Analyst

Help maintain accurate, reliable financial operations that support BYU-Idaho students and campus departments. As an Accounting Operations Analyst, you will contribute to student account administration, payment processing, collections, reporting, and process improvement while ensuring financial transactions are handled accurately and in accordance with university policies and applicable regulations.

Position Summary

The Accounting Operations Analyst supports the daily operations of Student Accounts and the Cashier’s Office. This position provides cross-trained operational support for account administration, cashiering, refunds and disbursements, in-house collections, reporting, and customer service.

  • Support cashiering and payment operations: Perform and review receipt processing, payment posting, adjustments, refunds, batch balancing, and daily reconciliations. Provide backup coverage for the central Cashier’s Office and approved remote cashiering locations during regular operations and peak periods. Assist with vault, cash-handling, deposit, and reconciliation procedures while following internal controls and dual-control requirements. Research CASHNet and related payment issues, coordinate corrections, and assist users with routine system questions.
  • Maintain systems, controls, and procedures: Update procedures, reference materials, and system configurations for Student Accounts, the Cashier’s Office, CASHNet, and CRM collection processes. Test system functionality, including automated emails, letters, financial holds, payment workflows, and other criteria-based actions. Document results, coordinate issue resolution, identify process risks and improvement opportunities during the Student Information System (SIS) transition and ongoing operations, and participate in audits, training, cross-training, reconciliations, and special projects.
  • Conduct collections and operational reporting: Review delinquent accounts, document collection contacts, monitor payment arrangements, and follow approved collection procedures. Gather, validate, analyze, and present actionable data using tools such as Report Builder, Power BI, and Excel. Maintain dashboards and recurring reports that track delinquency, collection progress, account trends, and operational workload.
  • Support additional departmental needs: Carry out other responsibilities as assigned by supervisors or upper management.
