Salary:  $26.95/hour – 40 hours/week, Monday through Friday 7:00 am – 4:00 pm.  Occasional hours may be required on weekends and after 4:00 pm on weekdays.

This is a temporary position, with no benefits, expected to last up to 3 months.  Tentative start date is August 25, 2025.  Activities for this time period have already been planned.  The Temporary Coordinator will be responsible for setup and ensuring the planned activities run smoothly.

Recruitment Description: 

This position is responsible for providing a safe and enjoyable experience for the senior population of Kittitas County at the Adult Activity Center.

The person in this position will implement specialized programs for senior adults.  Serve as contact for the senior program; oversee daily operation and maintenance of the Adult Activity Center and related recreational, educational, and leisure activities for the senior population.  Will monitor programs and ensure the activities are safe.  Must be able to communicate with patrons and staff in a positive manner.  Supervise volunteers and other part-time staff.

• Coordinate, implement, and advertise educational, social, creative, and safety programs for seniors.


• Register patrons for programs and classes; supervise recreational activities while ensuring activities are safe and appropriate.


• Provide general information to the public regarding programs and activities; answer questions and resolve complaints.


• Supervise work of assigned volunteers and staff; develop and maintain effective working relationships with patrons, the public, City employees and committees, government agencies, and community organizations.


• Provide administration and clerical support; operate office equipment; maintain administrative and financial records; communicate with vendors, suppliers, and contractors as needed.


• Monitor expenses within assigned budget and revenue; make recommendations; receive and forward invoices. 


• Maintain recreational equipment and facilities in good working order; inspect building, evaluate janitorial service; report items needing maintenance and/or repair; maintain building cleanliness and perform minor janitorial tasks.


• Maintain grounds: water, weed, and trim plants and bushes; fill bird feeders; report insect and/or rodent infestations; keep sidewalks clean and clear of unsafe conditions (i.e., snow/ice/debris).

This is a temporary, non-benefited position, expected to last up to 3 months.  Will earn paid sick leave at a rate of one (1) hour for every paid forty (40) hours worked.  Employees are eligible to begin using accrued paid sick leave on the ninetieth (90th) calendar day after the commencement of his/her employment. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor’s degree in leisure services or gerontology.


• Two (2) years related experience and/or training relevant to senior recreational programs.


• Please note: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

• First Aid/CPR/AED certifications


• Valid Washington State Driver’s License; must possess and maintain insurable driving record.
