Temporary Archaeological Laboratory Technicians (Artifact Washing)

Logan Simpson has an immediate opening for a Temporary Archaeological Laboratory Technician to work in our Flagstaff, AZ office. The start date for the opening is May 27, 2025, and will include up to 14 person-days of work.

Compensation & Perks:

This position is paid on an hourly basis between $20 - $22 per hour, depending on experience and education. Logan Simpson provides benefits for temporary staff members including paid sick leave, 8 paid holidays, eligibility for a healthcare program through ACRA (American Cultural Resources Association), and for eligible temporary staff members, the firm offers a $150 field gear stipend and a retention bonus program.

Responsibilities Include:

• Assist with archaeological artifact washing in our Flagstaff office under the supervision of the lab manager and/or principal investigator for the project.


• Potential to participate in the rough sort analysis after the artifact washing task is complete, under the supervision of the lab manager and/or principal investigator for the project. 

Position Requires:

• In-progress or completed bachelor’s degree in Anthropology or Archaeology.


• Experience with archaeological laboratory work.


• Ability to identify archaeological artifacts.


• Ability to work cooperatively with crew members and supervisors.


• Proficiency with electronic devices such as smart phones, tablets, and PCs for digital data collection.


• Be able to lift up to 50 lbs.


• Education and/or experience in the U.S. Southwest.

 Preferred Experience:

• Experience with archaeological lithic artifact analysis.
