Job Description - Temporary Cook

Are you looking for a Challenge? Looking for an innovative organization and the opportunity to learn and grow professionally? We can help! We are seeking a Cook to provide culinary support and food preparation services in support of Terrestris LLC in Long Beach, CA.

So, what will the Cook at Terrestris do?

As the Cook, you will be responsible for ensuring the quality, taste, and presentation of all food items. The ideal candidate will be able to follow instructions in cooking and delivering well-prepared meals while adhering to health and safety standards.

What does a typical day look like for the Cook?

You will:

  • Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and standards.
  • Set up and stock stations with all necessary supplies.
  • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, of high quality, and in a timely fashion.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area.
  • Follow proper food handling and sanitation standards.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report shortages to the kitchen manager or chef.
  • Assist in receiving and storing food deliveries.
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to improve food quality and service.
  • Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations.

What qualifications do you look for?

You might be the culinary professional we’re looking for if you have:

  • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently without sponsorship
  • High school diploma or equivalent; culinary school or training is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a cook in a commercial kitchen or military environment.
  • Knowledge of various cooking procedures and methods (grilling, baking, boiling, etc.).
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, especially with food presentation and safety.
  • Certification in food safety.

Additional physical requirements include:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and work in a hot, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Manual dexterity for handling kitchen equipment and utensils.
