Job Description - Temporary Medical Assistant (Full-Time)- St.Paul Rheumatology

St. Paul Rheumatology is seeking a Temporary Medical Assistant to support our clinical team during a defined period of increased need. This full-time, temporary position runs Monday through Thursday from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical skills, phlebotomy experience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.



Note: This is a temporary role, not benefits-eligible, with an anticipated duration of 6 months.

With locations in Eagan and Roseville, our growing practice focuses on advanced treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and autoimmune diseases, offering patients access to cutting-edge therapies.


Responsibilities:



  • Provide efficient and compassionate patient care including rooming patients, gathering medical history, documenting visits, and relaying care instructions.

  • Assist physicians with medical procedures such as ultrasounds, injections, and bone density scans.

  • Administer biologic and other injections as ordered.

  • Handle medication-related tasks including refill requests, prior authorizations, and insurance appeals.

  • Perform phlebotomy, specimen handling, lab draws, and ensure proper processing and shipping.

  • Triage patient phone calls, review lab/test results, and manage lab orders within the EHR.

  • Prepare exam rooms daily: clean, stock supplies, and ensure equipment readiness.

  • Maintain compliance with all clinical, regulatory, and safety standards.

  • Order laboratory supplies and assist with scheduling of lab appointments as needed.


Qualifications:



  • Completion of a Medical Assistant program from an accredited institution (certification preferred but diploma accepted).

  • Phlebotomy experience is required.

  • Prior clinical experience in a medical office or outpatient setting.

  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR); comfort with digital tools is essential.

  • Strong multitasking and organizational skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced clinic.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care.
